Had the same issue with an 06 SDI that was new to me last year, testing was pointing to a bad stator and ended up getting an aftermarket stator and flywheel off a SDI 1000. Learned my lesson on buying used, check charging system magnets were cracked and glued back in place.

Thanks for all the replies, I don’t think those stators are to expensive anyways so I will look into getting a new or good used one. In the first reply he said they usually have some wear. Does the stator make contact with the magnets or is it just really close to the flywheel?

There should be no contact between the flywheel and the stator. Good luck with your repairs!

Thanks Seabass, so someone glued the magnets back in place on a used flywheel you purchased? Where did you order if from? Was it eBay?

Yeah the seller of the sled had the magnets epoxied back in, but one was cracked, the stator looked just like yours. The sled failed on it's first ride in the yard lucky I was able to find a guy that was parting out a couple Mach Z's and was able to put in an upgraded flywheel with the one piece magnet. There are no SDI flywheels available from BRP or any other aftermarket distributors from my research. I saw some on eBay but they wanted an arm and leg for them. There are after market stators out there I think I got that one from eBay or Dennis Kirk and it was a bit of a choir to install, but the repair turned out good.
