BRP ELinQ accessory on Rev XS or other sleds?

Has anyone else looked at the E-LinQ accessory and thought that it should be able to be used on other sleds and not only the Gen4's?

E LinQ | Electrical & Electronics | Ski-Doo USA (ski-doo.com)

Doo could sell a lot more of these ELinQ accessories if they had a version or instructions on how to add it to other sleds. I like the idea of it, instead of that cheap RCA style connector that tends to fail in the middle of a ride.

It appears if it can be mounted on the upper body panel next to the DESS post, it should physically work. Perhaps anyone that works at a dealer can see if it can be installed on a Rev-XS, XR or XM chassis?

Checking the installation instructions, I'm sure their templates won't work as they are only given for the Gen4 chassis.

The other question is if the power connector is a new style on the Gen-4 sleds vs the Rev-XS sleds (or different on the other chassis). It's easy to install an alternate connector if it's required.

I'm not sure about the geometry and physical dimensions and don't want to spend about $140 to find out if it's not going to work at all.

Am I the only one that has thought about this?

why make something thats very cheap and works well into expensive and complicated
just keep a extra cord with you for the crazy stuff like getting it in the track
that can still happen with the fancy doohickey

I like the idea of one connection point.

Plus, I've been on rides where what started as one simple issue, turned into multiple failures after a sled tipped over.

The shield power cable was damaged. which caused the cable to break, fuse to blow, etc. Spare cables didn't solve it. The power connector was damaged on the sled which caused other issues.

Not that it matters to this discussion, I'd still like to consider if this could be used or adapted for use with Rev-XS sleds. Others may want it on XR or XM sleds? Perhaps not? But it seems mostly like simply a mechanical geometry issue or perhaps one flavor of connector to wire to the sled's Aux power point where the factory shield power connector normally plugs in.

Perhaps i'll have to see one in person.

its not really one connection

just the dess tied to the elinq

still have the same dess connection

just zip tie the dess to your heat and you have the same thing...lol

OK! ;)

But it uses the magnetic connection for the shield heat, and that won't break the shield power pin in the socket, and not short out the shield power causing the fuse to blow when the connection gets yanked out. If you tip over a sled, you can break things much easier with the simple (RCA style) pin connection.

I've done it more than once! I carry spares, but sometimes you need more than just a spare cable to get running again, and it's a bitch trying to fix such a problem on the side of the trail when it's -15 out with 20 MPH winds and your buddies standing around waiting for you! LOL

Never the less, I'd still like to look into this. It's expensive, but a nice solution to the crappy RCA style power pin cables and cheap socket for shield heat.
