this was by far the poorest show iv been to in the last 5 years ... imo

their were far fewer vendors this year
and i could find no good deals on helmets gloves etc...
the down stairs was practically empty, (except for ross from hygear)

just thought id pass on this info to those who havnt gone yet

of course the best part was meeting a few fellow dootalkers,
and watching craig quiz them, with some dootalk trivia, for prizes

I didn't have as negative a take on the show. Reminded me of last year..in fact it seemed a bit bigger to me. The prices weren't nearly as good as last year. I bought 2 141mm idlers from Byrds and a HUGE gear bag to carry all my stuff in. Spent well under $100 including admission as compared to almost $1000 last year. My buddy did beat me though...he bought a 27' enclosed Legend trailer. Very nice and will be great when we have more than 2 guys going riding. Missed the dootalk meet N greet as we were negotiating with the Blizzard and Legend trailer guys. I'll catch up with you guys this year on a ride I hope.
I agree mxzrevman.....the show did not live up to the hype. Some say that it is a real pain for the dealers and that they make no money doing it. Well, then my rely to that is then don't do it. Why do it half -a#$. I met some guys who traveled from pretty far away to attend the show. There should have been far more sleds, and atv's. The downstairs to the oncenter and the war memorial honestly were pretty weak.

I thought the show was pretty good , got to see a lot of stuff and talk to some good people about our great sport. You gotta hand it to the dealers and venders for a great job . lets face it we are coming off about the worst winter most of us have seen for riding , how much more money can dealers put out to get us to buy .

Funny thing is....the Yamaha display had 2 Phazers hanging from digital scales. I guess they know about everyone talking about how heavy they are. Doesn't strike me as the best thing to do, but what do I know?

Sat on the Phazer. Interesting, but not enough for me to consider it as more than a larger, heavier snoscoot. I like the skinny seat. I don't like the big hole in the tunnel under the seat. I suspect the aftermarket guys are already molding plastic covers for that.

Yamaha is definately trying to build innovative products. That's awesome. I hope they can get it right. The competition could go a long way towards getting BRP to fix some of the quality issues in their sleds.
Was too hungover this morning...i'll try for tomorrow around noonish. Any other procrastinators going tomorrow?
I thought the show was very weak and I agree not many venders at all. I went with a friend who is a yama guy and he too was very dissapointed. It turned out pretty good toward the end as I scored a new set of V-Force reeds at an awesome price..... so made my ride up from Rochester worth it. Guess thats what a show is all about though.....just a show.
this was the lamest show to date and i live within 45 min of the place and am there every year, no deals i can get better prices through dennis kirk don't think i will spend the gas money to go in '.07. just my .02
I thought the show was good. The guy I buy my ski's off of wasn't there that I could see but I got some great deals. On studs and clothes.
" thought the show was very weak and I agree not many venders at all. "

not sure there are that many dealers left... or at least ones that can afford the cost of going to a show like that (especially with everything being available everyday on the Inet...)

it eneded up being a VERY poor couple of seasons and the small guys got hammered... not to mention that with todays sleds its EASY to get 6K+ mileage without very few reapirs... (a good thing BTW!)

what really surprises me is how much innovation we get from all 4 OEMs, with the rate sled sales are decreasing not sure why they do it... but I for one am glad they doo!

From what I understand the hole needs to be there to let snow hit the muffler to keep it cool.

I dont even bother going anymore, in the late 90 and early 2000's it was an awesome show but then it started to fade in the last 4 yrs there have been less and less good parts vendors and an increasing number of hotel and tourism booths. I was a vendor there in 98,99 and 2000 and if you didnt reserve your space early you didnt get a spot. In years following, it seemed there was always empty spaces at show time. Back when we were there, a 10x10 space ended up costing us about $1000 with electric and phone line for credit card transactions, I wonder what theyre getting now.

The hole itself is not the problem, its that the seat doesn't come down far enough to meet up with the tunnel leaving two large gaps for snow to come through and fill the running boards etc.

I've been saying for years they need to move it!!! The ON center SUCK'S it's to small , the state fair grounds would be much better.Parking would be eaiser,I didn't go this year but I've been going for years and still have a hard time finding the on center.you can't enjoy yourself because it's so cramped in the on center, but as long as NYSSA is making money dought they will budge
Keep in mind that not only the Manufacturers are suffering but the aftermarket and accessory guys are too. Like I said I got some good deals, by wheeling and dealing.

You don't see the vendor outing as much because many are hurting. Get us some solid winters in a row and they'll all be there again. Remember they had stuff at the war memorial so it was bigger, granted there were a *few* stalls for ATV's.

I agree w/ the fairgrounds. I assume it would be a LOT less expensive for vendors to rent space at the fairgrounds. Plenty of FREE parking. Too bad they couldn't coordinate a grass drag event at the same time. More vendors = better deals.
