Best prestudded track option for 137 Sport?

I recently bought a 137 MXZ Sport (G4 EFI) as a "backup" sled. It will hopefully never see me riding it, but will instead serve double duty for the wife when she wants to join, and friends when she doesn't. So think intermediate at best riders, i.e. exactly the intended market for the sport. It's replacing a 137 Renegade Enduro 900 that, while on paper is the perfect sled for those riders, in real life is actually pretty awful (weird throttle response, too heavy, etc). It came with a 1.35" Cobra, no studs, nearly brand new.

I want a pre-studded track for the EFI - and that leaves me with three options:
  1. Swap the 1.25 Ice Ripper currently on the Enduro with the Cobra on the Sport, before I sell the Enduro. The good is that this is free - the bad is that it might hurt resale on the enduro? Not sure - it might actually help since the Cobra is basically new.
  2. Buy a take off Ice Ripper and sell the cobra. I don't think you can buy a new ice ripper from anyone other than Doo and their absurd markup - Camso only sells it in 2.52 pitch. The good is I keep the existing track on the Enduro, and hopefully don't get too hosed on the pricing between the ice ripper and cobra.
  3. Buy a new Ice Attak XT and sell the cobra. The good is that I keep the existing track on the Enduro, get what I believe would be the best track for the sled (I've heard people like the Attak way more than the ripper for 1.25" tracks), the bad is that it likely costs the most.
Happy to hear any thoughts and opinions...thanks everyone!

Maybe you could trade the Cobra for an ice ripper (post an ad here). I don't think you'd notice much difference, if any, comparing an ice ripper to an ice attak.
Yeah, I was thinking that would be relatively easy. I know a few people really like the Cobra 1.35 as a trail track.

Think of putting in some IGrips screws on your Cobra if it’s possible and call it good. My dad put some in his 900 na last year, Ripsaw track, had great results, no losses.
I looked into it and the 1.35 Cobra doesn't have anywhere to put them, unfortunately. The 1.6 does but not the shorter one. That was definitely my first thought though!

Congrats on the sled purchase. I also am getting a Sport model. I went with a MXZ Sport 600 EFI 129. I think it will be a superb sled. Very happy to get a Ski Doo on my trailer to keep my Polaris company. It is going to be my wife's sled. Anyhow on your track question I was looking at also swapping tracks but my dealer was offering no credit for the take off ripsaw and buying a new track and the labor to install a new track was more than I wanted to invest so I went with 90 conventional studs with a ski doo stud kit. It is the most economical option I had and would look into that since you have a cobra track which are great tracks and conventional studding will give you more ice and hardpack traction than any prestudded option. But if you do not want to run conventional studs and only will use prestudded I recommend checking out the Ice Storm track in addition to the Attak XT. I would buy one of those if going prestudded and see if you can get credit from your dealer for the cobra track. Best of luck. With those 3 options only my vote is buy new attak xt. not a big fan of the original ripsaw lug pattern which ice ripper uses too

That all makes sense. I actually have an ice storm on my sled (an MXZ XRS 850 129), but for the "backup" sled I think it leans a bit too aggressive. I want something slightly more forgiving that matches the stock skis better, and has a few more studs incase a beginner hits an icy corner and doesn't know what to do. I definitely don't want traditional studs - the only 3 sleds I've owned or know of that have had them, have all put one through the cooler, even with good maintenance. I've been relatively happy with the ice rippers on my old XS 137, and on my renegade enduro, but I feel like the attak is just a better track both on and off trail...but they're much harder to find used.

My buddy has an IR on his 600 Etec 129 and he loves it. IMO the IR is a little better than the RS, it has more solid lug and less "finger". IR also has taller lugs than the Ice Attak. That's why on an 85hp sled I don't think there'd be much difference.
I did not look closely at the ice ripper so that is good to know about the lugs being a little different. Went and looked at them again. They are still less of a solid lug than the attak. As for the lug height it is 3 hundredths of an inch more lug. 1.22" vs 1.25" I have no experience myself with either but many that do have all pretty much said the same thing. Even camso says it. A Ripsaw either the prestudded or not both are great for high speed and hardpack trail and has great durability but not as well suited to loose snow conditions or off trail. You can see it the teeth/fingers of the ripsaw are aggressive and stiff they do exactly what you would think they would do and that is penetrate and dig/bite into hardpack but that design hurts performance when snow is looser it doesn't scoop like a fuller lug design does and instead shreds the snow and spins providing less forward drive and flotation. I like the design of the Attak seems it would handle all other snow conditions than setup hardpack trail snow better. Not saying a ripsaw is junk if you could get a good deal on a takeoff that would be the way to go from a value standpoint but no idea if you will find a take off. New ones are available take your pick the tracks are all reasonably close in price so if it was my money and sled I would go ice storm or ice attak but the ice ripper should work just fine too. Best of luck.
