Bearing life 03 mxz

I am in the process of moding my 03 mxz 800 and wondering if I should replace any of the bearings keep in mind with this that this is just a extra sled and I am on a budget...(wife) Sled has 4500 miles and bearings all look and feel good.
My other question is.....Is there a bearing that does not last long or has had problems??

Thanks for your help...Jay

4500 is a lot of miles and wheel bearings are cheap so I'd replace them. The one bearing you need to be worried about on the 03 is the outer crank one behind the primary clutch. That sled wasn't vented properly for using petamo grease and does not have a seal retainer so you can blow the outer seal (or even inner seal on the 03 design). Guys have used Airdoo800X's seal retainer effectively. I've used a breather mod effectively. Others have done nothing and still have no problems but you'd notice that seal bulging out as a warning sign if you do have probs. You might also consider replacing the driveshaft and jackshaft bearings for prevantative maintenance.

Thanks....I have Scotts crank seal kit on my sled so I am good there and as tight as I am I know it would be a good time to replace the jack shaft and drive bearings I was just wondering if there was a appearant problem.

Gman- Just put in the seal retainer kit three days ago. Noticed the seal was out beyond the case about 1/16th or so, is this bulging? Hopefully its not totally flush or rescessed in normal condition! Got lots of cash in this motor and didn't plan on any crank work until 5000mi or so...
Mine was that way also when the kit was put on my sled everything still fine..So that sounds normal to me.

Where is viperER to tell us that they did not have a seal issue when when we need him ??

PS> don't check your rings, or viperER will tell you that they never had a ring issue also.
lol... i beleive the seal but not all had ring issues....

ps i never had to vent it.... just the seal and i have gon a couple 1000 hard hard miles that way with no problems.
I am looking for problems with drive bearings...forget the motor bearings
My jackshaft and driveshaft bearings had 9500 miles on them when I replaced them, and all seemed fine. Not sure if they were or not but I replaced them just incase. I have never replaced the bearings in my suspension but I have taken the seals out repacked them with grease, I know bearings are cheap but I am a broke college kid so I try and save my money to pay for gas.
