Looking to order a new sled, I'm between a backcountry and backcountry xrs, it will be black so colour isn't a factor. I my wife currently has a backcountry (non x model) 850 it's a great sled, but I want a 2 inch track so I'm going to go with the x or xrs. I've never ridden either so I'm just curious if people have experience on both and how much better is the xrs over the x.

i think this depends on the type of rider you are... if u are riding whopped out g's and rough stuff all the time, then the xrs has the adjustable shocks and bragging rights....The x would be fine for most people....I have the xrs, and the shocks are over valved in front and still too stiff..Same with the rear...a click or two from full soft, and have never bottomed out with 220.00 pound rider and gear...The xrs shocks can all be sent in to a good shock guru for revalving for your weight and riding style....which is going to be cheaper than a shock upgrade for the x model...($1200-1500 for fronts....$1200-1800+ rears) aftermarket ....This is my opinion.....I would also suggest reading up a bit about this topic on this forum, or what the shocks experts have to say about this model....I've learned a lot myself....Hope this helps a bit ...

Opinions on the RS running boards of the XRS versus the boards on the X? I know the RS are flatter, wider, and thicker, but the holes seem smaller-do they hold snow worse than the X boards? Also looking for more opinions on if the extra $$$ for the upgraded shocks of the XRS is worth it.

They have different running boards on the backcountry xrs?

Good choice. Brother has the xrs and it's an awesome sled. You can pound the heck out of that thing and it absolutely loves it.

If you're going to be going from off trail to trail, invest in the quick adjust ski stance kit. Buddy has it on his summit and it's pretty sweet. Can switch you ski stance in less than a minute.

I'm considering getting them but not sure my wife has a backcountry and we have it set to the narrow setting and she doesn't mind it and I'm coming off a summit so I'm use to the narrow front end.

Do the quick change front. For a trail day I switch to the wide stance, and it is noticeably more stable.
I'm probably going to try without first because here the way I ride I'd constantly be adjusting and sometimes I just pop off the trail to play in the stuff I groomed for a couple hundred feet and then hop back on the trail
