I'm getting a heated visor and need a place to plug it in. Looking for some tips. Does radio shack or some electronics supply have these female ends? My dealer doesn't. Can a guy use other methods? What is the electronic term for the male end ?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Damm bitterly cold coming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I my 97 Formual III and 00 Formula Z, it is relatively simple. Look under the hood, near the firewall for a yellow and a yellow w/black pair of wires. They will have a plug on the end of them. Skin them back and solder one of the leads from the jack to each of the wires. Wrap some electrical tape around them to keep them from shorting together. Feed teh jack through one of the vents and secure it using tie wraps. I am not sure if radio shack will have a jack the size of the plug or not. As the other comment stated, most of the visors you purchase will come with the jack and a couple of tie wraps.

Good Luck

We are putting a heated visor set up on the wifes S-Chassis Formula SL. If you lift the cowling, and theres a plastic piece that actually covers/protects the steering column, when the cowling is closed. Theres a GRAY plug, with 2 wires (Yellow & Yellow/Black) thats right there in that vicinity, as far as we know, as we have not done it yet, those are the wires we will be using. The wifes heated visor (Zeus 508 series i think) came with all the stuff (the lower portion which attaches to the gray plug, then the coiled portion which attaches to the other end of the lower portion, then the 3rd portion which attaches to the coiled portion and to her helmet jack). Will post pics as soon as we do install. Jim

The plugs/jacks are the same ones used in audio gear....they're referred to as "RCA-style" plugs.

Male end (cable end) is referred to as Male or Plug.

The portion you mount somehwere on your sled is the Jack or Female portion.

For mounting to your sled just buy one of those cheapy singles that The Source or any other audio place sells for case mounting, secure it from the underside. Since it's is exposed to weather and elements, if you can't find a suitable cap for it when it's not in use, wire a fuse inline.

X2 on RCA jack ... pull it out of you tv; you will not notice it missing as you'll be out riding! I had blk zip ties kind of squashing the plug between plastic cover - U could not tell - pop jack thru snuggly drilled hole & zip tie it top & bottom - done; can always get professional later on, this will get you out on trails!

Got it installed, real easy, and LQQKS neat...... It was $27.00, and plug n play.... Had to drill a 15/32 hole where the primer would have been, above the recoil. Will try to get pics sometime and post them, Jim

My sled came with one from factory but I needed to replace it as it was a loose fit from years of use.Instead of mounting it in original location on right side of dash I ran the new cord through my handle bar pad and out by the left grip.It works better there, less tangle with the cord as most heated visors have the cord on the left.Just my 2 cents.
