Does anyone else feel inferior when wrenching on their buggy and they grab a CRECENT WRENCH when they are not sure of the size of the nut? I doo it all the time... Man I hope it snows soon! To much time in the shop ....or to many bush lights??

I will gladly use an adjustable wrench any time it will work , the problem is that they are big and clumsy , refusing to get into tight spaces and next to impossible to take a secure grip on any but the loosest nuts or bolts . I always take a complete wrench or socket set to every project just to be sure I have the right tool . Not that it applies to our Doo projects ( universally metric ) , but I carry metric tools to every task and have rarely been thwarted by fitment .

That's why I love the dog bone wrenches. They have the most common sizes all in one spot.

The only time i really ever use a crescent wrench is when i have to hold a bolt hex and dont have another wrench, or i if i dont have a large enough wrench and i have a big enough crescent. Otherwise its sparingly used, but has a spot in my toolbox for a reason.

Yup but I find it is usually a 9,10,11, or 13mm socket lol.

I've been a Snap On Tool Dealer for 18 years and I'm reasonably confident that nearly every professional mechanic I've dealt with has at least one adjustable wrench in their tool box. I have a couple in mine and use them periodically, no need to be ashamed!

I have an idea of most sizes and just usually grab a few of the usual size so I know I have the right one. What amazes me is my dad. He has been a mechanic all his life. He can look at any size nut and know the size. I don't know how he does it??? I've tested him and he is almost always right!! CRAZY!

I feel my nuts first before grabbing my wrench. I can tell pretty much what they need right off the bat.

BWAAA! I did that once in the grocery store, suffice to say, I'm not longer welcome there. I guess it's all in the timing.
