After market belts

I have always run Doo belts on both my sleds. Last year I bought A Gates extreme belt for my 1997 formula Z 583. Part # 38X-4340 1 3/8 x 43 1/2. I'm real happy with th fit of the belt and how it has held up.
I was thinking of trying one on my 2002 800 X. The stock Doo belt part # is 417300127 . When I cross ref. this number to the Gates it comes up as Part # 38X-4340 1 3/8 x 43 1/2. How could this be.? Both the stock doo belts #414860700 (97 formula) #417300127 (02 mxzx 800) cross ref. to Gates belt # 38X-4340 1 3/8 x 43 1/2.
I was thinking Gates belt # 43X-4320 1 7/16 x 44 would be a better fit for the 02 mxzx 800.
What do you think.?

From my understanding the Gates Extreme belt is a very hard belt and is hard on the clutches and can actually put a grove in the clutch although I have never seen that done, thats just what I heard

I ran a Gates Extreme on my 583 MXZ with zero problems and good performance right up untill my son burned it up when he got stuck. I had several others and have not bought another belt yet, but probably will get a Gates.

Thanks. Can someone give me the measurements of the stock doo belts 417300127, and 414860700.?

the gates extreme is a very good belt. one of the strongest and longest lasting belts out there in my opinion.
yes, it is a hard belt. but no, it will not wear out the faces of your clutches, lol

We have been running them in both a 700 and a 800.

I have had zero problems. In fact last spring I had to pull a dead sled 33 miles. Never burned the belt. In fact I rode the sled hard the next day for about 150 miles, no problems. Yes, it will be replaced for this season

As for the difference in the stock belts, I believe it is just a compound issue. I have put the same belt from gates on both the 700 and 800. 02 mxz sports. I believe it has been the 4340 that we have been running. If you want, I can look this week.
