Hey guys, I have a 2006 Ski Doo Summit X 800 and it didn’t have a speedometer just the little black cover. And I wanted a speedo for it so I bought one for the same time era and models, and there is also a plug under the black cover that is meant for if you want to add a speedo (IM GUESSING) so I cut the zip tie and plugged it into my new speedo on the right. I got the sled running and the Tach works fine and there was electricity going to the Speedo. (Oil light was on and brake light). But no power in the digital display…. And then when I actually started ripping around I noticed that the needle wasn’t moving from 0. (The whole point of getting it) Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it? My only idea is to swap the gauges and maybe that would work???

I believe the Summit would have an odometer in the LCD display at the bottom of the tach. So the speed sensor and associated circuits should be there. On a REV trail sled with both gauges, the speedometer supplies the data to the tachometer. There is many wires to the speedometer and only a few to the tachometer. I believe you would want to plug your new speedometer into where your original tachometer was. I’m not sure if your original tachometer will work, you may need one to match the new speedometer. Also the speedometer you got will have to be from a Powertek or SDI sled, or there is changes to the pin layout in the harness connector that need to be made.

Hey so I swapped the speedo and the Tach so the speedo was on the left and when I fired her up, the Tach or the right didn’t work at all I believe and with the speedo, the digital display started working with the miles, and also the needle even set itself at 0 when I turned it on. It moved so it’s aligned with 0, then I pulled it out and started going and the needle didn’t move….😑 I went slow and fast but still no movement even though it set itself at 0 and it was on the Speedo side. Anyone seen this before??

Ok but do you know why is the speedo I installed on the left it’s needle not working when I move? Anyone know?
Does the speedo in the tach work when mounted in the left? Does the speedo work if the right plug is left disconnected?

I haven't personally seen a bad speedo yet but the tach died in my 2006 when it was about 1.5 years old.

So when my Tach was on the left, it worked perfectly, but when I put the Tach in the right, absolutely no power, and when the Speedo is on the Left the digital box works and the needle sets when the engine turns on but when you move the needle doesn’t move farther than 0
