90 non ethanol Rec fuel vs 93 octane ethanol

I’m curious to see what you guys are doing for fuel. Most if not all of the fuel stations in my riding areas have 90 octane non ethanol fuel or a choice of up to 93 octane with ethanol. I know 93 ethanol is just 90 octane fuel with ethanol added. The 900r requires 91 octane fuel. It’s obvious that you definitely don’t want to store or let the machine sit with ethanol fuel in it but just curious as to what octane booster you are using and at what dosage? Or are some running the 93 ethanol and just not letting it sit or be stored with it the ethanol fuel?

I am for non ethanol fuel all the way, we can get and I use 91 non ethanol in all my toys but not my vehicles.:)

you run 90 rec and your ecu will probably be cutting the power
go for the highest available and hope its high enough
91 MINIMUM , but 90 rec is probably close to 91 because it runs richer
rec or pure gasoline is different octane for different areas/distributors
mich has only 89/90 rec but 93 is more common
rec or pure gas does have a longer storage life

Whatever the freshest/highest turnover gas is at said gas station. Don’t want some old 90rec that’s been sitting since Fall.

The sled is designed to run with ethanol because most gasoline has ethanol in it. Up to 10%. Seems some have ethanol issues and others don’t. Maybe user error?
E15/E85 needs dedicated fuel system(bigger injectors/pump)
Would be interesting to see a 900R E85 setup. Cheap 97 octane. Obviously comes with cost upfront for new parts/tune.

good luck string to start a sled at -10f on e85
will be tough even with winter blend e70
I have done (e85 @-5) but it required a snort of starting fluid

I always run 93 in my 800 e tech. If the station has 90 I'll put it in if there's no 93. Sled runs excellent with the ethanol. Lawn tractor snow blower things with carburetors I use 90. Even put 90 in for storage on my backup 700sx Yamaha. Anything that stores for any length of time gets 90. Oh yeah and I'm tight so I'm not paying $0.80 more for no ethanol.

How about mixing in some of Sunoco 260 GT
For trail rides
And full strength for Sunday on the lake with the pipe and can club

I can buy this fuel very close to me locally in West Seneca New York at Delta sonic
Right from the pump
If we are going on a trip we always bring fuel to leave at the cabin and fill up every morning
Of course sometimes you have to fill up on the trail

Hey now

hard to carry race gas on the trail
you can use a good Octane booster much easier
most/good booster is 1 oz per gal raise octane 1 full number

actually the 10/15 % makes the tune leaner/hotter
the cooling effect from using alcohol is the EXTRA fuel
needed, that does the cooling
almost 50% more fuel needed for the same boosted power with 100% ethanol
and almost 100% more fuel needed for methanol compared to pure gas
as the extra fuel leaves thru the exhaust it carries the extra heat

I didn't think these machines had an ethanol sensor for adjusting timing to match octane level??? (e.g., monitors/senses knock to adjust timing). Keeping it 91 and above would be my preference. Doing 200-mile rides is moving enough fuel through that the ethanol shouldn't hurt anything. We run the fuel out and prime with a gallon of VPN for summer storage

there are some idle adjustments using the o2 sensor
the sled has no clue what fuel you have
the ecu makes big changes to the tune for temp, altitude or when it hears knock

I would not worry about using E10 fuels during the season. I always use E0 at the end of seasons last ride or two so I'm good for summer storage.
I worry more about having to get panther pizz from 500 gal. tanks out in the woods.

plenty of good fuel available in mich
why would you tote lawn mower gas around
