I am very happy with my ultrasonic cleaner! I have done at least 30 Doo carbs in the last couple of weeks. I use spray nine with the water quite hot and it rocks! I always used the nasty juice to clean carbs before this but we can't get that up here in the great white north anymore so I had to go this route and I kind of like it better.

I have tried many. I do use regular tap water. I have tried vinegar, Lestoil, Greased Lightning, dishwashing liquid.

What do you recommend?
Spray Nine about 20% with water I put the water in hot either from the tap or kettle so I don't waste heating time and I run it fairly hot in the machine too I often run it for about 30 min then turn it over and do 15-20 more minutes. I find it will clean a fairly nasty carb quite well. I do this a side job since I retired not many folks know much about carbs anymore or points for that matter!

Very good. i just bought a gallon for $22. Also, does it remove the white powder from oxidation on aluminum? I know it cannot repair the damage from oxidation, but the removal of the white crud would help.
I would not say it totally removes the white oxidation but it helps I use a soft brass bristle brush after the main cleaning and then pop the carbs back in for 15 min after and they come out looking pretty good sometimes if they are not to bad they even have a bit of shine to them. one thing that kind of blew me away was I tried a needle and seat assembly that I knew was not very old but had been gummed up from bad gas popped it in with the carb in a small container for small parts and it cleaned it right up I popped it into a vm 36 I was building for an Everest 500 I am putting together and ran it it worked mint it was perfect so in a pinch it could be a good way to get a sled running if you can't find a new needle and seat assembly. the one thing that I find the ultrasonic won't do as well as a chem dip is the brass does not come out looking like new it is clean but a bit dull.

So, options are find another frame to get that part which probably has some rust issues as well or patch it or cut that part out and fab up a section to replace the rusted area. That really sucks! tough to move two steps forward to have to go back again! How are your fab skills? a good race shop or a good metal fabrication shop can do that fairly quickly and it would look good too is the tube round? if so it is easy enough.

I have a lead on a NEW one. Fingers crossed.

Funny, the first powder coater said that I should have inspected it between blast and coating. LOL
Hmmm I would have an issue with that! I wonder how many customers he has that powder coat metal with rust holes in it? Not the best customer service! that will sink him in the end!
