Hello all,
A friend of mine purchaced a Formula MX 500 for about $400. It is in decent shape. After replacing clogged fuel filter, it runs really good. We zipped it back and forth across his field a few times and it pulled the skis of the ground......Not bad for $400.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had extra parts for this sled. We could use a hood, as it appears someone sat something heavy on ours and crunched it. We would like to collect a few spares for it as my friend will be giving it to his son and the kid doesn't have a bunch of $$.
Also, If the VIN tag says it was manufactured in September of 1985, what year would this sled offically be?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

you will have a hard time finding a good used hood for that sled as i tried for 2 years for my old '89. Als Snownibile has NEW hoods for around $400. if you doo find a used one an '85 WILL NOT fit they look the same but the contours around the hood/bellypan are different. as long as you have the '86-93 PRS chassis any formula/mach hood will fit. hope this helps, GOOD LUCK

i believe the formula mx of that year was a 470 liquid cooled
yep i have an 86 plus (521 liquid), impossible to come by hoods and windshields . spent hours fiberglassing my hood this summer, hopefully i dont hit anything or it doesnt stress-crack. there great sleds though mine always starts first crank.

Just for the record, the Formula MX was a 462 liquid and the plus was a 521 like 'formula plus' said...they were pretty high-tech at the time for their prs suspensions...
