Hi guys, this is a great forum, I'm new to ski doo, and have learnt alot here from reading posts. I have a question about S8X clutch kit. I put in 24 gram weights at clicker 3, I rev at 8200 if not even 8300 rpms. What's best, try 24.5 or move clicker to 2? thanks

add 1 to 1.5 grams-I used to run 27 grams in my 800 with some mods. Either that or change the finish rate on the primary spring to a lower poundage.

You should be pretty close,right where your at 8200-8300 on tach anyway.Doo tachs run high anyway,at the most 1 short screw=.9gm.
what does that kit run for a primary spring ? secondary spring? and helix angle = ?

You can lower your rpm's by about 200 rpm's by adjusting them from example #3 to #2. They seem to pull better mph with the lower clicker numbers. That motor spins at 7850 rpm's so shoot for 8000 rpm's, they do sometimes read a little high. You can also add some pin weight about 1 gram per 100 rpm's or reduce your final force on your spring from a 230/380 to 230/ 350 this should reduce yor rpm's by about 300 rpm's. For even more grin from your setup, drop two teeth on top gear(from 26 to 24)!

Thanks for all the good info guys, I changed pin weight to 25 and she's running at 8000rpms. Sled seemed like it had more power at 8200 rpm though. Would it hurt engine to run at that? Or is that the sweet spot?

Go out and verify your results on 8000 vs. 8200 rpm's. If it runs better at 8200 then go with it, not all sleds are the same.

8200 tach is about 8000 rpm actual anyway thats why sled runs good there.I
