800r Airbox, Bigger and Better, Will it work on older 800

Will the new 800R airbox work on the revs with the series three engines, and has anybody tried it yet?? The new airbox supposedly improves the airflow with a bigger primary(the one attatched to carbs) airbox entry and improved airflow through the secondary( the panel mounted) airbox.

was wondering the same thing, but it might only make a diff on higher flowing motors.

I will be dooing a back/back test on the 840HO with the new 800R pipe and airbox-BJ

you think if you see gains, that there will be some on a stock motor as well? Obviously smaller but any is good. How about with the Drop in kit?

Anyone know the fit yet?
Part numbers to order?

Thanks, Chuck
I ORDERED THE PARTS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. THE TWO AIR BOX (PANEL & ENGINE)#'S ARE 508000512, 50800511. I CHECKED THE PART #'S BETWEEN THE 06X AND THE XRS. THEY WILL FIT. NOT SURE IF IT WILL GIVE ANY POWER GAINS, WHY NOT TRY. THE PARTS WERE CHEAP.

ALSO THE XRS HAS A DIFFERENT CHAIN (LARGE) & SMALL SPROKET. I PERSONALLY DID NOT BREAK A CHAIN LAST YEAR, BUT HAD TO ADJUST TENSION AFTER EVERY RIDE. I ALSO ORDERED THESE PARTS. CHAIN #504151932, SPROKET #504152505.

I WENT ON SKI-DOO WEB SITE UNDER PARTS AND FOUND ALL OF MY INFO.

FOR ALL THESE PARTS IT WAS 235.00 CANADIAN. WORTH A TRY.
Hope the new chain is better than last years. Mine went after 900 K and I changed the fluid @ 200K and again at 300K when I put in a different gear. Checked the tension every ride. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I heard they were putting 15 wide chains in all the Summits with extrovert drivers this year. Guess they finally learned!

Have FUN!

BJ,

Can you see if this airbox would make a diff on its own without the pipe for those of us using the stock pipe? It will also give a good idea of gain with the pipe compared to stock.

HIGH ALTITUDE,

What did you pay for the two airbox parts?

I PAID $48.57 EACH FOR AIR BOX AND PANEL BOX. $105.72 FOR THE CHAIN, $25.62 FOR THE SPROKET. THE LARGE SPROKET IS SAME, I DID NOT ORDER UNTIL I PULL IT APART TO SEE FOR WEAR, ONLY 1000KM'S. THE COSTS ARE CANADIAN $. I HAVE STOCK PIPE, MBRP CAN. HAVE NOT DECIDED ABOUT A PIPE, TOO MUCH CONFUSION ON THIS SITE. YES A PIPE WORKS, NO IT DOES NOT. I HAVE EITHER CONSIDERED AAEN OR BIKEMAN.
Dont forget the y-pipe with the pipe. Its spose to be 1mm bigger in the I.D. for better flow.
Any info on this yet BJ?

thanks,
Jesse

But will the boltpattern match the older 800? Anyone knows?

I have the same can, and I have the same confusion over the pipe. Keep in mind there is now a third choice, Straightline Performance now has a single pipe for the Rev 800. Even the can seems to be a toss-up. I hear good things here about the HPS, and have also heard "The Thing" makes a few hp. MBRP claims 2 hp, but I have heard it can actually cost 2 HP. I wish these guys would post the actual dyno charts to back up thier claims.
I installed the 07' air box on my 05' 800 and it fits fine. Does it make HP .... who knows but one thing is for sure, it will breath better, it has to since the I.D. is much bigger. Rev's are known to not breath very well so any improvement in that department is a good mod.

Have mine installed but no testing yet (827cc motor).

Any real world results yet? My sled is still in pieces.
