I am going to tackle the top end of my 04 SDI I believe it's factory block.

Please chime in if you think I should read a thread and post a link please. Conmment on first hand experience

-I have a Cudney Racing Head
-ProX top end dual ring and top bearing gasket kit
-I will buy a SPI y pipe if I find mines cracked
- it's only two days wait to have MY crank rebuilt and isoflex delete $550 CAN

So has anyone polished/ there rage cage?

If the bottom end comes apart I would like to have everything ported. Do you think it's worth it to polish a bottom end?

I have read that dual ring pistons have trouble with the ring locator coming out if the engine detonates. I am very careful about using premium fuel.

What Base gasket thickness would be recomended/ safest.

I'm looking for a reliable improvement in power am I getting off track?

Wish I could help but those are serious changes right down to the Isoflex delete. Performance enhancements would also change the backpressure and air/fuel ratio. For the base gasket I would contact Bill Cudney as there are specs to be respected. Best of luck of the upgrades. It can be a real performer if setup right.

For the price of a short block I am going to risk the Top End and bottom end to try my Cudney Head hopefully it will last the next couple weeks and I will build and port properly.
