600 'Gade suspension set-up??

290 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  05GSXRIDER
Hello All,

My wife and I recently acquired a pair of 2006 Renegade 600 SDIs. I haven't actually owned my own sled since 1992- and it was old THEN......

We're kinda big people.....Wifey is 180lbs, and I'm 290lbs. (no fat jokes please)

We both like to ride aggressively and prefer a little bit more steering bias.

I could sure use some help from you guys in the know as to a baseline setup to start with for each sled/rider.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

I would have to say if its your first rev then try the stock set up first if you havent ever ridden your new sleds. then see if you want change or not. thats just my recommendation. You could do what evryone says tweak it all out of wack then relize it was better stock when you put it back to stock. now if you dont like it stock then do some tuning just my .02 cents

Rebellious,

Thanks for the reply.......The problem is that these are used sleds....The suspensions are all over the place and I have no idea what stock is....The sled that has E-start (wifes) has the springs turned all of the way up, and mine has them all the way down......I have no idea what all CAN be adjusted on these sleds and I'm sure it's mure than just preload.

1st of all...

Are you in for a treat

The first ride,

You won't be 1/2 a mile and
you'll be talking (possibly hooting) to yourself !

Been there in '04, had a blast

Anyway, check the manual and adjust things accordingly
Don't be suprised at the softness of the suspension
It's done that way to absorbe the bumps, not bounce off of them.
Sleds are set up stock give or take, on the light side, meaning a cumfy ride for 180lbs.
Aggresive riding needs tightening up a tad

At 290 your going to want the springs cranked in even more
When you start riding, if you bottom out hard and you run out of spring
You might require different springs or shock work if you want the best ride possible.

Hopefully, someone on here see's this with your situation that can be more specific.

GadeX,
Thanks for the reply......We had our first rides on REV's last year in West Yellowstone. We rented a 600 Gade and an 800 Summit and headed for two top mountain. Since my wife and I both ride ATVs extensivly, the REV platform was just what the Doctor ordered. After years of renting clapped out junk (except for last year) I finally talked her into these two used Gades.
I am pretty sure the stock setup info is on the belt cover. I believe they give you wome wieght examples on thier as well. is a place to start I had to bump everything up one setting from stock to get a ride I like but like mentioned do a 50 mile ride or so and see what you think they give you all the tools to adjust things trail side once you ride and feel what you do not like you can easily adjust the settings I did this countless times last year in the first 500 miles. also I adjusted for diff snow conditions as well as they were different from the day we started to the end of the week took 3-4 min tops thta includes chipping snow and ice off and getting out the tools. got her pretty good after a few try's
