It's about 10 deg F here in NW PA today, and I'm going to ride tonight. Is this the time to open the carb heaters on my 500SS? So far, I've had them shut. Is there a particular temp point at which they should be opened?
If it is extremely cold 0 or below, I will open mine for the first 1/2 hour then close them off. Just to make sure nothing freezes. I will also open them up if riding in deep powder, but havent had to worry about that yet this year
i think the manual says to use them below -10 C. I usually use them when it's colder than that and speciffically if i'm following in the fine snow dust when really cold out. i leave them on the whole ride, from start up to shut down until it gets warmer out.
