Running Cudneys clutch kit with a 25 gear thinking of trying a 24. Anyone with this
already and did it make any diff ?? Did you need to add more pin weight and does it effect fuel mileage... Currently I am pulling 8100rpms with 19.2grams. Works very well and clutches are cool. However I have found that if I set my deflection to high more than 1/16th above they get to hot...What sucks is these belts seem to stretch more than they did on my cat but I have put 1400 miles on 1st belt and just replaced cause I had to tow buddies F7 to dealer which glazed it bad...1 new cylinder, 2 pistons and 4 hours later we were on our way !!!!!

I am struggling with this question myself but I have an 03 with 9 tooth drive sprockets. 25/43 gearing at 7900 rpm = theoretical top speed of 118 mph. Subtract 10% and you get 106 mph. Not very fast for an 800 imo. I have heard that you get about 10% less top speed than theoretical and my sled runs best at 7900 on the tach. Maybe I should go back to a 26 tooth!

I went with a 24 tooth top on my 04 800. Clutches run cool, no loss in gas milage and it really rocks now.

i recently put in a 25 on my 03 800 and i'm really happy with it; the way we ride it's usually fastest to 90-100mph wins and that's it.

I put a 24, down from a 25, in my 04 800 a few weeks ago, but I did it the same day the cudney kit went in. I got between 12.5 & 14.5 mpg. RPM didnt change, other than I couldnt pull 8k with good traction. Thats a different issue, rings are in the mail.
