For sure. Fact is some of my most memorable snowmobiles were and still are Yamaha's. The good old dragrace SRX. The quad piped VMax-4. The ported and piped SX Viper.

Me too. I think there was way more screwing around on the lakes and fields back in the day. Probably because the old sleds sucked when the trails got whooped up.

Just a little refresher from your earlier post...

It will still smoke anything from Doo...

They will be sold out again while ski doo has leftovers filling up dealers floors.

It might be time to put down the shovel.

That said, I do wish Doo would offer power steering, and I have no problem saying so.
This guy is trolling hard or cant read or remember what he typed in the same thread. With a screen name like harry comes... IDK...

I didnt bash yamaha in this thread.

How hard would it have been for Yamaha to build their own sleds? Sleds are not actual rocket science are they? The easiest way for Yamaha to gather attention could have been: make that two stroke triple that everyone wants so badly. They have the technology for 2stroke high pressure fuel injection. Just ad that into the twostroke. Not that complicated. And making their own suspension and frame. Not that hard either. Just copy others like everyone else does. '
And then go back in time, and make new version from apex. Those things are still today fun as f. More fun than sidewinders will ever be.

I'm not sure a 2 stroke triple is feasible these days with chassis design the way it is. That and emission regulations. But I agree, I'd jump at one in a heartbeat. Nothing beats that sound IMO. I just wish they'd make their own chassis again. Other than the Phazer reboot (no offense to anyone :)) they made some really sweet sleds. But come on Yamaha, I mean, how did they go from tuners building redhead triples and crazy mountain Apex's to running a cat motor in a cat chassis and having the balls to revive the Mountain Max name with that? Crazy!

Yamaha is on an extra support life support deal. Unless winter returns like the 70’s,80’s,90’s type deal they’re a rebadged ac and nothing more.
bean counters will make sure of that deal.
best best is Yamaha buys out ac’s snowmobile line and runs with it but I’d imagine it’s not worth the investment.
its sweet to see the old colors come back.
I really tend to wonder why no one else has gone after the power steering that they have. It’s nice, really nice if you put some miles on it or have a sore shoulder etc deal going on. Polaris and doo couldn’t take notice sooner.

Yamahas demise was going all 4 stroke. I had a brand new 06 apex and realised after 1 trip to tug hill on a saturday with 4 foot rollers that i made a bad choice. Actually bought an 04 rev 600 just for the hill.
Strong motor but just could not hang in wooped out trails and i would assume mountan segment as well.
Then to phazer snd nytros. Those handled just as bad.
By that time i think it was all down hill as the only people interested were the quebec trali riders.
Then the patnership with cat which brought down there quality standards.
Here we are 10 years later with the sam 2014 viper.

Don’t think so that put them at the head of game every one knew they needed a 4 stroke in the line up. I don’t think there old chassis was that bad they could have took the nitro to a new level .anyway my Yamaha fandom is poking through . Doo and poo offering budget sleds is big win for the sport

So After owning a 2020 TCAT for 3 years. Best handling sled I have had on any 4 stroke that I have ever owned. I bought a lot of them. Also it had a great ride. I tuned it to 300hp and that sled is the fastest thing I have ever owned. A couple of issues I had to deal with, but nothing that left me stranded. Sold the sled and ordered a new G5 Renegade, 900R XRS for 2024. When Cat builds a new Catalyst with the 998 and gets the bugs sorted out, I will be back on one. The motor is sweet, easy to tune and Cat has the handling figured out! They just need to get that whole drive train issue fixed and with the new belt drive, it should be really good and make a 4 stroker even more reliable. FWIW.... Yamaha and Cat just renewed their contract. They are not leaving each other. People should be a little open minded. The Procross is great trail sled and has changed a lot since its inception. You just need to look under the covers to see the changes.

While I agree there have been several changes that have flown under the radar, IMO they have not changed enough. In the time the Sidewinder has come out, Skidoo has refreshed their chassis twice. They have introduced 3 versions of the 900 turbo, 3 gauges, smart shocks, and a 2 stroke Turbo. Polaris has also introduced a bunch of new tech as well.

I have been a Yamaha guy for a long time and I am due to replace my SW. Tomorrow I won’t be ordering a Yamaha.

So, which doo is faster than an SRX? not the Mach

My local ski doo dealers are loaded with leftovers. I know because I just bought one.
Faster where? On a lake - you can train a monkey to go fast in a straight line. Then again, talking stock to stock the SRX isn't that much of a threat.

Add in a few bumps, twists, or turns and pretty much any performance Doo would leave the SRX in the wind.

Harry, one more time... it's time to put down the shovel.

Pretty sure Mike Knapp would disagree with you on that one. 😑👀

Has Mike ever run a stock sled in his life? Something tells me no. 🤔

And Mike was always a Yammi guy more than a Cat guy.

Totally Agree.... But in AC's defense, I believe Textron handcuffed them from releasing a new chassis and upgrading the things that needed to be re-engineered. After owning 3 Cats since 2016, I will say this.... I would rather have a Cat then a Polaris any day of the week. Skidoo has always been my favorite, but I never felt skidoo ever got the handling or balance on a sled ever right in any of their sleds ever produced. Skidoo's quality is second to none. I also owned a couple of true Yamaha's and I did not love them, but there are parts of them that I did. I think its good to try different OEM's because if you don't, you won't know what you are missing and you cant bad mouth them unless you try them. lol
