This shouldn't come as a surprise. To anyone with a discerning eye, it was clear from looking at them that the Ski Doo 200 is a yellow Yamaha/Cat 200. At least those who want a mini Doo have an option.

Pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't be out of line to think that the production agreement was made as part of the settlement in the lawsuit that BRP won against Cat in Canada for patent infringement.

 

Certainly not a surprise. As you said, it was clear from looking at them what they were. Just strange to have an Arctic Cat MSO and would have thought the unit would be serialized as a BRP product.

 

So even the MSOs couldn't spell ARCTIC Cat? Wow...

Who prints those, Cat or Doo?

 

A license and yellow plastic is WAY cheaper than R&D and proprietary production. It doesn’t always need to be a competition, sometimes it just needs to make good financial sense.

 

Arctic Cat sales will now be up this season because of all the yellow Cats they are going to sell.

 

Bet they'll be Cats number one seller! 😆

Not sure if they told all dealers. But I bought a 120 for my boys spring check and the dealer was quite upfront and told me. Thanks to you all here on DooTalk I already knew that but my salesperson I buy all my power sports toys from did mention they were not made by BRP. Hopefully it’s more than a 1 year deal so I can get the 200 next year for the older of the 2 boys. Just glad they have a yellow sled was ready to buy the Yamaha Blue.

All that said no word on ETA for the 120 that was supposed to arrive this month.

 

Any idea where we can find part numbers? My little girl is about to have a green 2019 skidoo mxz200

 

They are pretty basic little machines, just glad that BRP is back in the game in that segment.

 

It will be interesting to what the Canadian versions NVIS (same as MSO) says......

 

So do you have to go to a CAT dealer for warranty work?

 

And to Yamaha for engine issues since it uses a Yam engine!

Either way, if you get the Blue, Green or Yellow version, it's a darn good kids sled. You cannot go wrong with it and it would of been hard for BRP to make a better one.
