2022 Mach z versus 2022 Arctic cat thundercat weight

So I'm bored and YouTube popped up a video on the fastest sled according to some magazine. So they say it's the thundercat which now you can get electronic power steering with. So for s**** and giggles I thought I'd look up the weight. 20 minutes later I'm googled out and I got nothing. I see the Mach is around 550 lbs but I'll be damned if I can find the weight of the arctic crap.I love how they won't list it in any of their specs on any of their sites. Does anybody know?

Guess the skidoos aren't as light as we thought
The new 850 turbo R for ‘24, with SHOT start will be lighter than all these sleds…and Will bring with it just as much, if not more power as the Mach/900R with a lot less weight…watch out!

there are plenty of dead 998 around, most are rebuilt/upgraded
they are not bullet proof
they are not a 400+ hp motor with out upgrades
its about the same for the tiny 900
Most are running 270-320 here. Very few engine issues. 900 isn't making close to that without big $$$.

mine is stock motor with big injectors and pure turbo
in the 300hp range, using the pv3 is not big $$$
I have less in the complete setup than just a motec or maxx
I run the close to the same hp on my stock motor x3 for 4 years now
I thought the yamacats I race were about to the same weight as my xrs
but I see the yamis could be a little lighter....
most run a light muffler and battery

we will see if the 850r is a big of a dud as the boost was
there should be some tuned up boost around this year
so we will see if they are anything special

How do you figure that when the ST weight of an 850 is alot heavier then advertised. So add in the meth tank filled with fluid and it gets even heavier, plus the re-enforcement of the competition package also adds weight There was a time when sleds were built for lightness. That time is now gone.

I’m taking the glass half full approach. Will assume it is going to be awesome.

does the weight difference really matter on trail sleds ride what you enjoy its like woman do lighter ones ride better than heavier ones just ride what ever one you have

So you think it’s gonna be heavier than a wide body Doo four stroke, with bigger body work, bigger seat, bigger more heavy 4stroke engine and all the cam shafts and valving, an inter cooler and all the plumbing that requires, a full tank of 4 stroke engine oil, mechanical gearbox, electric start motor and battery, smart shock set up…….

Ya it’s gonna be much lighter than a Mach Z or 900R imo…much lighter, and it will bring at the very least the same, and probably more power. And it will deliver it constantly and consistently. So all of this should equate to a very formidable snowmobile, right out of the box. Common sense tells us this at the very least.

Doo has a lot riding on this sled, in the sense that Polaris beat them to the market with a flatland 2 Stroke turbo, and if they’ve done their homework(which it seems to look like they have), then it will have been worth the wait for them, and us as the buyers. I don’t think this sled will be a disappointment in any way, especially with the competition being what it is, and a year ahead. They knew what the bar was, and it looks like they’ve waited until it(sled and technology)was ready to go, and they exceeded the bar.

Agreed. All reviews are very impressive from all media outlets. No reason at this juncture not too.

On a 998 that's a flash, some weights and a can.
No injectors, no turbo.
Maybe it's not big $ for you.

I don't think so but that wide body 4-stroke could be a lot heavier than we think based on how far off Skidoo is with their published dry weights from the sleds in the Snowtrax video.

Exactly. If the two strokes are off, the fours are really off too. I think the point is this, the 850 Turbo R MXZ is going to substantially lighter than any four stroke Doo period. And with the same amount of HP(and probably more), the power to weight ratio is going to be superior. Theres really no getting around that fact.

I had an ‘18 Winder, it was an ark of a sled. What made it fun was the incredible power it had that masked the weight most times.

When I got on my ‘21 850 MXZ XRS it literally felt like a feather to me coming off the Winder. The lightness and flick-ability was incredible compared to the 4 stroke Winder. Literally night and day compared to the Winder in nimbleness and trail ability. Now add turbo power to the 850, and it’s a significant force to be reckoned with compared to the heavier set up of a four stroke turbo. It will be significantly lighter and with comparable or more power…wow.

One of our own weighed his 900R and his Sidewinder. I’m not so sure the wide bodies are off as much as the 2 stroke. I wish ST would have weighed a 900R too. His 900R Adrenaline weighed 622. Doo lists it at 524 dry.

ST weighed an 850 Renegade XRS at 654. Doo lists this sled at 496 Dry.

That’s comical….900R is 622lbs, and a 2 stroke 850 is 654lbs…32 lbs more for a 2 stroke….what a joke. There is just no way an 850 is more than a 900R in trail ready form. Those numbers are so incorrect it’s pathetic.

I mean if this were true…what would be the point in buying a 2 stroke?

I'm sure ST is lying and rigging the weights.... ST is just publishing the results they got. Maybe ski doo should publish wet weights.
Wet weights and full tank! Ready to ride!!!

I don’t know what they’re doing…and I really don’t care, but I know there is no way a two stroke 850…Wet or dry, is heavier than a Mach Z/900R. No dam way.

I agree. Steve weighed his sled and it was 98lbs more than the listed dry weight.

The Doo’s that ST weighed were an average of 130lbs more than than the listed dry weights. The Poo sleds were an average of 99lbs more than the listed dry weights.
