G'day,

Rented out 2017 Skandic 550 SWT to a few researched from down south.

Comes back and 2nd gear doesn't work. No horrible crunch noises coming from the transmission, 1st and Reverse are working, haven't noticed any cracks in the transmission case at all.

Haven't drained the fluids to check for chunks yet, will get to that shortly.

Could it be a bent shifter rod, broken spring?

*Shop manual on order.

Thanks, folks!

First thing I'd do is post this in the Skandic forum. Lots of really knowledgeable there who will never look in this forum and so will never see your question.

1st & 2nd gear are on the same shaft and have the same shift fork, imo the high side is worn out/not engaging, still you should feel it trying to engage when you put it in 2..strange your not feeling anything...did you check the adjustment rod from the shift handle to the gearbox?

Yeah, sounds like something is up with the linkage and it's not pushing it far enough down.
