Well I goofed up. Put electric start on my 2007 summit 800R using a 515176133 and not a 515176313 starter.. I can only find one used 515176313 starter from Canada and It will not be in till the END OF FEBUARY for $80.. Or I can buy a new one for $400!! WOW. I would have just bought a built recoil if I knew this.

I have used the search function and every thread lead to a dead end..

Can someone please chime in on if I can get the 515176133 starter to work? or if someone has a 515176313 starter I could buy?

Well i did not really expect to get any help since the forums asking the same question did not either, But incase anyone runs into this issue from here on and need a starter for The 800R motor in the rev chassis... and doesn't want to dish out $400 plus for one...

YOU CAN use the 800HO starter P/N 515176133 Starter ($100) and a ring gear off of a Mach Z 1000 P/N 417222830 or 417222951 ($65 on eBay). I Saw they looked bigger in some pictures, found a few on eBay, asked for measurements. Found the ring gear is a 1/2in bigger in diameter than the one on the 07 summit, thus filling the 1/4in gap needed to catch the Bendix. It actual does ALIGN PERFECTLY as that of an 800HO, after measuring/comparing it to my 07 mxz 800HO. I also have stiffeners/braces on, so my motor mount bolts do stick out a little further, IT DOES STILL CLEAR WITH STIFFINERS/BRACES. I thought I was going to have to grind the head of the back left motor mount bolt. NOPE! I have no Idea why Ski-doo did not just use these ring gears instead of making a completely different special starter for $400 plus dollars.. BUT SINCE ALL DOOTALK SEARCHES AND OTHER FORUMS/GROUPS LEAD TO UNASWERED QUESTIONS, I HOPE THIS WILL HELP SOMEONE.

Here are the part numbers once more needed to use an 800ho starter on a 2007 summit 800R sled.

BOLT ON AND GO, NO FAB WORK NEEDED

P/N 515176133 FOR STARTER (800HO STARTER)

P/N 417222830 or 417222951 FOR RING GEAR (MACH Z 1000 RING GEAR)

I will try to get some pictures posted tomorrow.

Nice write-up and thanks for the research. When reading through it did remind me of a picture on DooTalk showing the two different sizes. I rarely play with the ring gear as I am worried about the bolts backing out with any removal/installation. Just recently I saw one that did get work done and the bolts pushed against the sheave face just enough that it could be seen when running the belt. I mention these two things to give you an idea what to look out for in the next few rides.

been searching for this info myself...thanks for putting it out there! I'm sure I'm not the only one this will help. thanks again!
Glad I could help! I already know it has helped a few guys who were fed up with trying to make it work. One guy even tried to grind the starter down and stuff. He was pretty about it when I told him that's all he needed. Lol Ill get some pictures when I get home. And some of the 800ho to compare it to!

I just noticed my tap talk account is different than the one on my computer.. weird. Yes that worries me a lot actually. I almost used the red locking compound, went with blue.. I am going to recheck them after the first ride. I have the clutch off for cleaning right now. I will get a few pics when it's back on.

I used red lock tight on the ring bolts and torqued them to 35ftlbs. Starting at 20ftlbs and working my way up by 5ftlbs. They shouldn't back out now.

I did get some pictures
