I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ALL 2005 800HO WERE ALL POWERTEKS OR NOT AND HOW DO YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE POWERTEK AND THE REGULAR 800HO, IF THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT ENGINES

I HAVE THE 05 REVX 800HO THAT IS A POWERTEK CORRECT?

I WAS AT THIS ONE DEALERS PLACE AND SAW AN 800HO BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE THE ECM MODULE UNDER THE FRONT HOOD LIKE MY REVX DOES

I ASKED HIM IF THAT WAS A POWERTEK 800HO AND HE LOOKED AT ME FUNNY AND SAID ALL THE 800 ARE THE SAME BUT I HAD A FEELING HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT

The 05 800X is a power tech, a standad MXZ is not, a 800GSX limited is a power tech I'm pretty sure all other 800's for 05 are std HO's . I would bet in 06 all 800's are powwer techs cause they flat work.

Not all 800's for 05 are power teks.
You can identify the power teks- have hoses going to the raves.
The power tek 800 is an optional engine in the MXZX. and some others. I think
BRP says The power tek 800 has 7 horsepower less than the 800 HO that is not a power tek.

That´s not right.
The PT have +2-3 hp. compared to the regular 800H.O.
In the midrange the PT have +4-5 hp.

+ EPA 2006
Better MPG
Less smoke
Slightly less oil consumtion
Smoother
etc.

The 800SDI (-03 and -04 not REV chassie) did have about 7 hp. less than the 800H.O.

If THAT IS THE CASE,????I stand corrected. please keep in mind. I only base my responses on what I read and will always include in a response if it is in my opinion.
I am here to help, not critisize.

you said "If that is the case". I said "it is". An SDI is not a Powertech Mr. Mastertech, and if I know that I would think a Ski-Doo expert like yourself would as well. I'm 39 yrs. old FYI...

Your real name wouldn't happen to be Cliff (Claven) now would it?

I read in Supertrax that the 05 800 HO PowerTek was "finally civilized", anybody know what they are talking about? They also said that "the beast was finally tamed". Does that mean a softer more smoother upshift?? If so that bites, I love the throttle response of my 04 800 HO. Just curious. There's a 800 HO SDI for 06 right??

You guys are all way too funny.

The PTEK isn't a sissy and doesn't have a smooth powerband like the SDI - so, there isn't a softer/smoother upshift, it still rips like the standard 800 H.O.

There is NO 800 H.O. SDI for 2006. You'll see more 1000 SDI packages offered though in the RT chassis.

As for the actual 2005 BRP list of sleds with Power TEK, they are as follows:

2005 MX Z X 800 H.O.
2005 MX Z Renegade 800 H.O.
2005 MX Z Renegade X 800 H.O.
2005 GSX Limited 800 H.O.
2005 GTX Limited 800 H.O.

Sooooo....no 2005 Summit's have Power TEK, and the MX Z Adrenaline 800 H.O. does NOT have Power TEK.

I'm not aware if Power TEK will show up on the Summit's and MX Z Adrenaline 800 H.O.'s for 2006.
