2005 600 HO SDI Throttle Sticking

446 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  tweener
I heard that BRP has recalloed certain sled with SDI because there is a chance that the throttle lever sticks. This happened to me last year and I almost wrecked the sled. My dealer says there is no recall but I read on snowmobile world.com that BRP in cooperation with the CPSC, has announced a recall of 3,163 sleds due to throttle levers sticking. After forwarding the website to my dealer, he says he still can't find anything. Could it be that the recall is only in the US and not Canada? Anobody have any information for me that could help??

I have not heard of such thing but it is definitely worth looking into. If you did have problems with it last year I would suggest following your cable and llooking for a crimp. Then go to the throttle body and lube it and inspect that to make sure it is ok. If you doo hear that there is some kind of recall, make sure that you let us all know.
-Good luck

I remember reading this also. If I remember correctly the recall had to do with how the cable was routed and the main concern was when the bars were turned all the way in one direction that it would open up the throtle. Like stated before check to see where it is routed and if there is a pinch ro if it is getting pulled when the bars go lock to lock. If it is reroute it a shorter distance.

I would get all of my paperwork together and have my lawyer send the dealership a letter. This may cost you $100 or so. If the throttle does stick and the dealer refuses to look into the problem this will give you some legal recourse.

I hate to have to do this but I see this as a major issue. There was a thread on here a year ago where a guy totaled his sled when the dealer refused to look at it.

Cover your a$$ on this type of thing.

I'm going to look for something obvious like a pinched cable. Hope I find something obvious or my dealer comes up with the recall... kinda scares me.
the recall you are talking about was for 2004 SDI's, not 2005
I don't know about 05 but my 04 SDI had a recall to put a stopper in to keep the airbox to throttle body clamp from turning and getting jammed in the throttle if the clamp came loose. I just checked my paperwork from the dealer and it is Recall 2005-1.

good luck,

What is the equivilent of the consumer products safety comission in canada?

Report your problem to them.........if they have 3 or 4 incidents reported, they will look into it for you.
