Hey guys, so I just picked up a summit 1000 off of a buddy for a price I couldn't pass up. I am an 800 guy and was always told to stay clear of these sleds?
I will give you a quick run down, he is clueless to everything, bought it off a guy from up North and he used it once and got scared by the power and weight.
This is what it has as far as I can tell
1760km
New motor at 1700km, Cant tell if its a new short block or not but it looks like it (He told me the guy said it had a new motor in it, but he doesn't know what was done)
Uni filters
added vents
Boondocker box
some form of digital gauges, shows egts and I don't know what else it is showing
07 mapping
gold finger
Sled seriously looks like I just picked it up off the show room floor, she seems to be running great but I have yet to hit the snow. I checked the plugs and they are black and carboned up so I will change those.
I am new to these sleds and this is what I need advice on:
What do I set my boondocker box up to? I rather run abit rich than too lean
what should I check out on this sled to make sure shes good to go?
what can I do to make her reliable?
warm up procedure on these things?
Any issues I should be aware of when I am 30km out?
can I put alittle bit of oil in my gas just as a safety measure incase oil pump cuts out?
I am located in summerland/Kelowna bc, I work Tuesday- Saturday and don't have time to get it to the local dealers for a check up, is there anyone local who I can pay in beer or cash to come take a look at her for me?
Thanks guys
