I have just bought a new sled which came with mineral oil.

I will be changing to synthetic oil.

What is the best way to change?

1: Just keep topping up with the new oil -or

2: Run down the first oil to the minimum level then add new synthetic oil?

Same oils, same scenario I'm doing this winter.
The full-syn Mystik, is cheap and I had been using it for years because it is/was cheap.

I'm going with Klotz as I want a better smelling burnt/unburnt-smell while idling or riding.

I'm also too cheap and lazy to go sucking perfectly good oil out and then to figure out what to do with it after. I might as well use it up though I will have a while to go as I recall, it takes about 350 miles or two and 1/2 tanks of fuel to get through a tank of 2S oil.

It's kinda funny you ask that. Mine came with xps synthetic. I sucked most of it out and filled with xps mineral. I've always broken in engines on mineral, then switched to synthetic after a few hundred miles. Basically I try to run one gallon of mineral thru it, then switch. I run it low, and then fill with new oil.
This 19 is taking a crazy amount of oil in breakin! Like a quart to 40 miles.
So if I were you, I'd use up most of the mineral oil that is in it, then top off with synthetic.

Topping it off and mixing the two oils will be ok it will not harm your engine. I've seen it done many times .
What ever people can find at the gas station they will throw in the sled especially a rental then it's the cheapest oil they will buy.

I just have that little doubt and think why look for trouble. If it was my sled I would be cautious and run it down and fill it with the synthetic
