121" - 136" Conversion Suggestions

Hey all-
I am starting a 121" to 136" conversion on my 2000 MXZ 700, I have been reading a lot here, and figured out what I think is a pretty good setup. But I was hoping to get some further suggestions from those of you who have done this already.
Here is what I have now:
2000 MXZ 700
Cudney Trail Clutch
MBRP Trail Can
V-Force 2 Reeds
Precision Skis
Everything else is stock.
Here is what I plan to do:
121" to 136" conversion using SLP Tunnel and Rail Extensions
136"x15"x1.25" Ripsaw Track - 144 studs after I get a couple hundred miles on it
24/44 gears
So I guess here are my questions based on your experiences:
Is this the best gear setup, I am not that concerned about top end, as I do mostly trail riding and very little lake running etc.?
Is there anything else I can do to the machine to get more low to mid-range power?
What is required to put a big wheel kit on it?
Any other suggestions that might help me out?
Feedback is greatly appreciated!

There are a ton of people out there going from 136's to 151 and longer. I would think it would be better to get a used 136 suspension instead of rail extensions, probably cheaper too. With big wheels you will need a big wheel kit that will relocated the axle to account for the larger wheels. I am reusinf my old suspension and track in my son's phazer or I would offer it to you.
I would recommend the TracksUSA extensions instead, they are the best. www.tracksusa.com And get the tunnel extension for a 2000 Summit.
Thank you for the replies ... I already have the track and tunnel extensions on the way from SLP ... I have a "connection" at SLP so I got a real sweet deal on the kit. So at this point I am committed to the 136" SLP conversion.

Not sure how the SLP Rail Extensions are, but of the ones I have seen and done, Tracks USA makes the best, they not only bolt on, but the interlock with the rails=Super strong, If the SLP's are like this, than they are a good choise. Good Luck with your project, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me, as I have done about 4 121 to 136 strech jobs all on Doos.

Yep thats what I did, cheaper too. The extesions are NICE and real strong.
I had wildchild from snowest make my extension but they look just like slps. Your tunnel extension and rails will be nice, the only reason i didnt go with tracks usa extensions is cause they used hyfax extensions with their rails and thats retarded, seriously. So I had some made up by wildchild, and they interlocked just like the slp's do.

As far as gearing i was talking to a sled mechanic friend about gearing for my sled. 99 mxz 600, and he recommended the same gearing as what you said with the 136 conversion, the nice thing is you dont need a new chain just run the one you have and it will work, unless you got more money then go at it and buy one.

And finally stay away from the big wheel kit. Im putting a 4 wheel kit on, it saves the hyfaxs and allow the track to spin better, even if you run in the powder.

With your low to mid range Id say the gearing set up is a start, you could always drop to a 23 on top later.

Well just my $.02 and well i know all the loyal track usa are ganna have a fit about what I said, but well if you want something made right I've always said trust a canadian

Can anyone confirm that the SLP ones use hyfax extension ... not that I don't trust you greenspeed, just want to see if anyone has used the SLP ones ... cause if they do I don't want 'em.
I would make them myself if I had a sample piece to work from ...
I made a mistake in my post I was meaning to say that the slp extensions do not have hyfax extensions with then. Ive corrected my post
Anyone know the best place to get new gears (24/44)?
Also, if I am going to run a 1.25" track, I will have to remove the cooler protectors correct?
If you have the tall 1" tunnel protectors from running studs, you may need to remove them, without tunnel protectors a taller lug or paddle track will fit for sure....Good luck with your extension project, I too like the strength and fitment of the tracks usa extensions, I have them on my sled, plus I did my Dad's this summer, and some other friends prior, never experience or even saw what SLP has to offer...Once again good luck...
