I'm going to weld the fittings on this afternoon for my Digitron. Skidoo reference is 100mm from the skirt. Crankshop says 6" (147mm) from the skirt. I know these temps are only a reference but I'd like the temps to be as accurate as possible. A 50mm discrepency will make a big difference on the readings. Can anyone shed some light on this?

If you are welding your pyros in place you should have enough room to set them 6" from the face of the piston. The hose-clamp style are right were the spring hooks are so you will need to be outside of them in order to have a smooth surface and that will lead you slightly out from the recommended distance. The farther away (to a point) the hotter the readings will be.
