1" rain equals how much snow

Depending on the moisture content of the snow one inch of rain equals about a foot of snow on average.........do I believe that?

Well into the cubic foot container I think the snow has to be packed in plenty good and not just as it falls to equal that one inch of liquid that would remain after the melt..........even considering the evaporation during the melt I think is a steep call to make.......

Interesting theory though, I'll ask my old wife an see........lol
