boulder has gotten 14.5 inches of rain in 5 days. In colorado i believe it's 12"-16" of cold dry fluffy snow to 1" of rain 16ft of snow in 5 days? Maybe colorado is the place to be this winter? Looks like a colorado trip is in my future!

Depending on the moisture content of the snow one inch of rain equals about a foot of snow on average.........do I believe that?

Well into the cubic foot container I think the snow has to be packed in plenty good and not just as it falls to equal that one inch of liquid that would remain after the melt..........even considering the evaporation during the melt I think is a steep call to make.......

Interesting theory though, I'll ask my old wife an see........lol

Here in flat land territory I've always heard 1" rain = 10" snow. Can't say I've ever seen it in writing though.......LOL

Might be an old Farmer's Almanac thing.....
CVCOBRA1 is right.

All i know is colorado/utah have the dryest powder i have ever ridden. When i framed homes in Aspen and snowmass I did a ski in/out house on snowmass mountain. The snow was so dry we cleaned the deck of the first floor with with a 4ft wide sheet of plywood when it had 6" of snow on it. 1 guy could clean 20ft long by 4ft wide 6" deep snow with 1 push. In washington state you might get about 12" on a push!

We had 4.5" of rain last week in a couple hours, had to go rescue the FIL and MIL when they went to check on cows and the water rose too fast.
