I bought an 04 600 rev sdi over the summer and now I have taken it out for a test drive and it will backfire staring at 60kmph all the way down to 0 and will backfire 4-5 times, I do know that I need a new key but if I seat it just perfect I can get around for a minute, IS the key the reason it’s backfiring so much or do I need to do some work on the sled , it also won’t go over 100kmph at full throttle and once I get to 80 I push the throttle in all the way and then have to wait for it to climb, anyone know anything about this

That sled when running right and with the clutches working right will quickly get to 130KPH and still have throttle left.

I had a backfire issue with mine that I chased for a while. In my case it was the low speed fuel injectors. I would suggest cleaning them yourself and see if the situation improves. If it does, find a shop that cleans them and flow tests.
Here is the thread from my issue: https://www.dootalk.com/threads/04-600sdi-issues.1330729/post-17400289

The SDI is a great motor when running right.

you have to get the key sorted first. The shop can reprogram the key - you may need proof that you are the owner of the sled. chances are most of your issues will go away. As far as top speed - you will need to know the gearing and such - or confirm you are hitting the right max rpm.

for the sdi - make sure the battery is good and fully charged.
