Ski-Doo wants you to Grease your engine mounts!!??? 800 E-Tec

08 April 2021 - 10:00 AM

Replacing both PTO front and back engine mounts. 19000 miles. I'm installing them and I look in the manual for torque specs and it says to grease them? Kind of points to the top of the mount and says synthetic Grease?. I can't imagine what they're talking about are you supposed to fill the little void between the aluminum center and the steel outer part. part of the reason I'm replacing them is there was some gunk between the mount in the engine bracket. Thought it was just degrading rubber. Anybody done or seen this? Thanks

800 e tech ISO flex between Case and crankshaft lobe PTO side

27 March 2021 - 03:17 PM

My third post for the day, got my cylinder off 6000 miles. There's Brown definitely isoflex between PTO crank lobe and case. Enough that I could scrape it out with something thin. I'm a nut and pack the PTO bearing full of isoflex. Do it every 2,000 miles. I know you're not supposed to but my last motor lasted 13,000 so I thought what the f. And I think I know the answer already that I blew the seal out on the inner bearing. Or did it just push past the end bearing into the other one and oozed out the seal. Think I'm splitting the case. Anybody seen this. Kind of thinking oh well even if the seal is out there's 100% oil in the bottom in now and it's going to get lubrication along with the ISO flex that's leaked by. Thanks

800 e tech connecting rod small end blue?

27 March 2021 - 03:12 PM

So I got my cylinder off, 6000m, ran great just knocked a bit due to piston cylinder wall clearance I believe. And I shouldn't say knocked it just clicked when I had the side covers open and I listened close. Used a hose to my ear so I'm sure it was coming from the motor. Anyway connecting rod big end looks perfect no discoloration no slop. Wrist pins look perfect, just the small end is very blue over most of it where it surrounds the bearing. Is this normal? wish I knew how to post picture, Thanks

800 eTec cylinder base gasket thickness question

27 March 2021 - 11:39 AM

Tearing apart my first 800 E-Tec. My full service manual talks about measuring piston height. Can I not worry about that and just measure the thickness of the base gasket to know which one to order? Is the base gasket marked in some way? Afraid if I mic it after use that I won't get an accurate measurement. Thanks
