#23697383 08 600 SDI check engine light

Posted by speedworx on 28 January 2021 - 10:56 PM

Also, this was our first ride on the sled..light came on after about 40 miles.  I don't think the sled was ridden at all last year.  The fuel light was on when I bought it so I don't think there was much gas in it.  I added Startron and filled with fresh fuel (before the first ride)

I took it to the dealer..it has code P0261: ecm, outer mag injector open circuit or shorted to ground..

I was planning on pulling and cleaning the injectors..put dielectric grease on plug connections and checking wiring...is there anything else I should do or check ?

#23579319 NY Registration Number Placement

Posted by speedworx on 29 November 2020 - 01:13 PM

I'm in NY also..Brand new sled trying to figure out where to put the stickers.  I've lost a number of stickers due to not sticking to the rough plastic and I go through many check points and don't want to be hassled for missing registration stickers.  I'm going to put mine on the side panel above the black sticker that says Rotax.  Do I like the spot...no..but at least it wont come off.

#23399575 Insurance companies pricing?

Posted by speedworx on 07 May 2020 - 10:46 AM

I'm in NY also.  I have allstate for cars, house, etc.  I use to have them also for sled insurance till their rates got stupid expensive..$500+ for one sled for full coverage..No tickets and great credit.  I switched to Metlife and currently pay $192 a year total for a '18 XRS 850 and a 14' 800x both with full coverage.

All my friends switched to Metlife...rates were way cheaper than what any of they were paying with other companies...

0% financing?!? Incentives dont get any better than that! Thats free money right there! And i bet you would save more from paying zero interest than you would from whatever dealer or factory incentives they throw at you with 3-7% interest..

Like others stated, depends on what you are putting down and how long you plan on owning.  I don't finance so I always take incentives over 0%...the incentives on my last pickup were 25% off sticker and I only plan to keep it for two years..the cash incentives far outweigh the interest savings...

#23397565 Warranty about to run out?

Posted by speedworx on 04 May 2020 - 12:52 PM

I was pretty excited when I read the headline BRP was extending Warranty 90 days...till I read the article.  My warranty is expiring in November and I don't want to buy another sled and my only incentive to buy another is to have one with warranty.  I can't see their extension really helping sledders since most  sled warranties probably don't expire between March and June anyway...I'm assuming the only ones that might would be in-season purchases not spring order..maybe someone can clarify.

#23321649 Economy...snowcheck

The panic alone will kill the economy..I'm sure there will be tons of people reconsidering non-essential large purchases

#23296481 Should I try rebuilding this sled, or is it beyond repair?

Posted by speedworx on 27 February 2020 - 01:49 PM

I would part that out..I think you will run in to unforeseen additional damage.  There is a good chance you will never get everything straight and lined up and it is a ton of work.  The sled is still worth A LOT more in parts than you paid..stuff adds up quick.

#23284077 Service Charge (?) what do you think ?

Posted by speedworx on 21 February 2020 - 12:45 AM

I think some are misunderstanding..he paid $342..of which $26 was to diagnose...

#22699909 How old should a kid be to get on a sled?

Posted by speedworx on 04 February 2019 - 12:43 AM

In NY you have to be 10 and have taken the safety course.  My daughter started on a mini when she was 4.  She's almost 10 now and I'm just looking for a smaller cc machine like a freestyle 300 or rev 380.  I've let her drive my 800 with me on it but I just don't think its safe to put a kid on a high hp machine by themselves at that age regardless of ability.
