In Topic: My scratcher test, ski and tunnel

04 April 2021 - 08:45 AM

After seeing a couple of riding friends go through three sets of rail-mounted cable this winter, gouging the crap out of the rails before losing the protective coating and then finally busting off (and the company not standing behind them), I am undecided between the tunnel-mounted BRP scratchers or the dupont sliders for my 2022 Renegade X.

I ordered my 900R Renegade X a couple weeks ago, the dealer put the order in to Ski-Doo while I was there, and the only date available was December.

It has to do with dealer allotments of past orders ,time will surely tell.Try getting a CanAm ATV .

I can vouch for the difficulty in getting a Can-Am.  I put a deposit on my 2021 Maverick Sport XXC in October 2020.  I am picking it up next week.  Its the only XXC that my dealer will be able to get.  That's five months lead time...

In Topic: accessories 2022. What you getting?

For my Renegade X I've ordered the 1+1 seat kit with heated grips, wiring harness for the electric visor, passenger gauntlets, medium windshield kit, haven't decided which mirrors yet, visor plug, side panel deflectors, tunnel scratchers, SR21 tunnel bag, and the ride-on cover.

I've kept the glovebox extension with Garmin mount, LED lights, and tunnel connectors for my LinQ saddlebags off my 2020 GTL.

In Topic: Why does doo doo this for spring orders.

09 March 2021 - 07:54 AM

I hear you DD......

There was another thread talking about spring order prices and someone posted that ~$14K OTD for an "X" model being a "good" price. I said I thought people were crazy that felt those prices were good given how much the "X" has been watered down over the years.

I can't believe they put non-rebuildables on the Enduro fronts as well when that is supposed to be a top of the line floor model... then taking away the rebuildable shocks on the TNT too.

I'll bet Doo drops the TNT soon and just offers the Sport model next. Look how they dropped the 4-strokes in the 129's too. My dealer told me that move was all to do with cutting manufacturing costs by eliminating a couple production runs.

My last Spring Order was 2017 and I doubt I'll ever Spring Order again because of what Doo is dooing. In the spring of 2018 I bought a left-over TNT 900 and a left-over Blizzard 900 for what guys are paying now for one sled.... and they both have rebuildabe shocks and the Blizzard is as good as the "X" with the shocks, ice ripper and premium cluster.

Doo is dooing all this to cut their costs while they raise prices to make more money and they know they can get away with it because they are the market leader. They also caught lightening in a bottle last year with COVID driving up sales temporariliy. So besides watering down the spring-only sleds even more they dropped a year of warranty coverage since demand is so high.

There are many companies over the years who have gotten arrogant as a market leader in an industry and in many cases they later paid the price once the consumer had enough. The leader in my industry (who I worked for 20 years ago) got very arrogant, drove prices up, became hard to do business with and cut their R & D spending. Now my current company is kicking their butt because we have a better product, we are cheaper and we are easier to do business with. There are plenty of other examples out there.

There are a lot of Doo lovers... myself included..... but Doo has already pushed me out of the Spring Order game with their actions. Right now I'd rather have my better equiped 4 or 5 year old 4-stroke sleds than some of the new sleds available. Some guys won't care and just buy whatever Doo offers but other people might get tired enough of Doo's actions and pricing to change their buying habits. The only way anything changes with Doo is If one of the competitors steps up their game and people jump ship. Then maybe Doo gets the message that people have had enough with their watering down of spring orders and their inflexibility with confuguration options.

Very well said!  Agree 100%
