#23221719 Hurricane 175 Studs vs. Screw-in

Posted by will74 on 23 January 2020 - 11:00 AM

Running igrip screw in studs on my 20 Freeride with hurricane track. 3rd sled I've put these on. So far so good. Stay away from center of track to avoid tunnel protector. Helps out in icy corners and parking lots. Not the same traction wise as conventional studs buy not the track to buy if running hard pack and ice.

#18126537 Thinking about putting an 800 in my rs

Posted by will74 on 09 January 2017 - 09:20 PM

I put a 800ho new short block in my rs. Easy swap. New 800 ho blocks from Doo for 04-07 have holes for xp/xs engine mounts. Need HO y-pipe and head. I used rs reeds/boots, carbs re jetted, air box, muffler, and computer. I used an xm summit 800 pipe because it has hole for exhaust temp sensor. Added pin weight. Probably cost me about 1k with the money I got for my rs motor. Pm me with any questions.

I would spend the extra money and swap for the 800ho.  The best bang for your buck would be to find a 700.  Probably find a whole 700 sled for a good price. A lot of people on here say the 700 is a better motor too.

#8553314 2014 ski doo 600rs question on jetting

Posted by will74 on 12 June 2014 - 09:14 PM

I have a 14 and I started with the needle on the middle clip and 300 mains. The sled did not start making good power until I got down to 280's. Running 91-93 octane 40:1. Egt under 1100. My 08 and 11 rs's ran great with 300's. Read here that the 14 might have less.timing in the trail curve which would mean less fuel required and lower jetting than previous years. Once you get it dialed in the sled is great.

#7873033 Anyone trail convert the 2014 rs's?

Posted by will74 on 19 March 2014 - 01:34 PM

Tried 290's last week.  Still had a top end bog after it warmed up.  Was in the 30's but from what I have read it should compensate for that.  Exhaust temp never got to 1000.  Acting like my 08 when the powerjets went.  Full revs when i start off but looses power and stutters around 7 grand a mile down the trail.  Are powerjets still an issue on these things?  Going to try hard jetting this weekend.

#5918457 2014 RS Jetting for pump gas

Posted by will74 on 05 December 2013 - 07:47 AM

Anybody have any input on a starting point for jetting a 2014 RS for cross country/trail using pump gas (91-93)?  I am assuming it is close to previous years even with the carbs being a little bigger.  Hot start button is disconnnected.  I installed 300 mains and the needle is in the middle position. Am I ok with the stock head?

Thanks
