#23896697 The 900 ACE NA is No-Compromise Enthusiast’s Motor

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on Yesterday, 03:33 PM

I'm fortunate enough to have a 600ACE, two 900 NA's (a 137 and a 129, both with clutch kits) and a 900T in my stable.  They are all fun in their own way, and each one has its appropriate place where they are the best machine for that place.   I have no problem jumping on any of them and going for a ride.  The 900 NA's are fine for 95% of anywhere I ride.   But for the big trails of northern Maine it's the turbo I'm going to ride.  As long as I don't crash it again...

Hey Josh, thanks again for riding back with me.   For the guys that don't know, I was the last rider in the group.  Unintentionally I "hit a really sweet jump" flying off my sled at about 50 mph.   Poor visibility and unexpected bumps on a wide fast trail.  It was snowing big wet flakes and had to wipe the face shield every 10 seconds.  I should have slowed down.  I was going to tell the whole story but right now I don't feel like it.  It was serious enough that I could have needed emergency services.  I was this close to activating my InReach for help.

In a nutshell, Greg helped me out, Josh rode back with me to my truck.  To add insult to injury, my truck battery was dead and I had to get jumped.

Nothing broken, fairly badly bruised shoulder (actually I think it was dislocated) and leg.  Lower front teeth and jaw took a hit.  Went to dentist, nothing broken or cracked, a couple of small chips that she said will literally "buff out".  LOL

My new sled needed a new steering post and windshield and a couple of other minor console plastic pieces.

I'm feeling about 95% healed up now.   Also glad I had my tether hooked up and was (as always)  wearing my Tek-Vest.

I will tell you I think my Tek-Vest helped a lot and didn't get any rib or torso damage.  I think it could have been a lot worse.

Went riding with my family the following weekend and had a good time.  I think I'm done sledding for the season, I've been out riding my Spyder already.

Looking forward to the 2022 DooTalk ride!

Square bit should fit.

#23764203 New ProLine SNO 714 on the way. Excited!

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on 26 February 2021 - 11:41 AM

I have two Prolines, a four place and a two place.   I love the channel lock system but same as you guys have learned that d-rings work better in the winter and the channels freeze up and it can be a pain to free up the ski bars.  I use a small screwdriver to chip the ice free but I'm bring my propane torch for the next trip.

The quick adjust eyebolts are much handier to use in the summer for other purposes when using the trailer for other purposes like transporting furniture or my Spyder.

#23764005 Tall windshield/wide deflector proponents...help me figure out what I

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on 26 February 2021 - 09:20 AM

I have the med-to-high adjustable with side deflectors and mirrors and I'm really happy with it.  I found that at high speed the wind goes over my head.  Doesn't rattle to much and doesn't fall down.   This coming week is a great example of where I'll have it set high in the morning with cold temps, but the afternoons will be in the 30's and I'll set it low to keep me cooler.

#23763995 Adrenaline/Enduro?

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on 26 February 2021 - 09:15 AM

It's interesting to read these different experiences with the Enduro.  I have had a couple of Adrenalines and now have a new '21 Enduro 900T and I think the ride is much better on the Enduro.   I have a couple of friends with Enduros and have never heard them complain about the suspension.  And they really raved about the adjust-ability on the fly. That was one of the reasons why I went with the Enduro purchase.   The first two weekends out with my new sled I was on nothing but bumpy trails and was very pleased with how much plusher the ride was compared to my Adrenalines.  Especially the front end felt much plusher.  I looked at the spring charts and was surprised that the Enduro has stiffer ski springs than the Adrenaline, but with the same shock part number.   The rear spring is lighter than the Adrenaline but I suppose the difference is then made up with the air shock.  I tried the air settings from 1 to 5 and even on 5 I didn't feel it was bucking.   Now I'm about 225 butt naked plus I was carrying a full gas caddy and picnic basket storage with a few pounds of stuff.   So it seems like the Enduro does better with more weight on it.  Which is great because I bought it for longer backpack trips and two-up riding.  I just put together the 1+1 seat kit last night.  Thank god it's lot easier than the XS kit which was a nightmare.

#23744211 No start after deep powder playing

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on 18 February 2021 - 08:35 AM

Last year my friend's sled did the same thing under similar conditions.   He was getting pretty desperate after checking all the fuses, relays, swapping stuff around, jumping with a battery pack too.  Turns out it was the starter button.  I don't know if it got some frost buildup to stop contact but I finally just tried pressing and holding it in for a while and it finally woke up and started right up.

#23725283 Feedback on 1.5 Ice Ripper XT Track

Are you spinning that thing hard over rocks and off trail stumps or something?   I have over 3 thousand miles on my Ice Storm and not a single problem.

#23711643 Clamshell Trailer Supports?

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on 04 February 2021 - 09:16 AM

When I had a clamshell I took a piece of maybe 1/2 inch metal pipe, cut to length maybe  5 or 6 ft, drilled holes through each end and used clevis pins to attach to the trailer's locking tabs.   This would keep the top up and not fall off.

#23683275 Adrenaline vs. Enduro ??

Posted by yabbadabbadoo on 22 January 2021 - 08:50 AM

I think the 900 ACE Adrenaline is a great bang for the buck.  I've had two of them plus have a 17 900 ACE Blizzard which is like the Renegade Adrenaline but with 129 inch track and nicer gauge.   But they don't make them any more.   The Renegade is our favorite sled so far.
