Just replaced the bushing on my helix, the stock one had some uneven wear on it. The only thing is the new bushing is a really snug fit on the jack shaft. When I say snug I mean I had to twist it to get it on. Is that a common thing for new bushings?

The snugger, the better. It will quickly loosen a touch after initial use and be perfect. Like any new or rebuilt component, give it a little love for a few miles.

Thanks auto, I just wanted to confirm it would infect loosen up, the bushings on the QRS don't really get a lot of rotation so I didn't know how much wear in it would see

^^^if you go through the BRP micro fische, some years indicate the part number and others don’t. Bushing size are all the same....99% sure anyways. Lol

Was the bushing pressed on or with a hammer? It may mushroomed some if you used the hammer method.

Nope not with a hammer, used a threaded rod and an appropriate sized washer as a spacer and a larger socket. I know I didn't mushroom it, been doing this type of thing for years just was wondering about the bushing possibly being the wrong size.

And Dynamo Joe if you can’t find what you need with the dealer or Dalton.

It does not sound normal. I have never had one that needed twisting to get it on, so I could not tell you the result from experience. First thing I would do is operate the sled on a stand to see if the QRS closes then opens for the backshift. If it doesn't, then I think the answer is apparent.

thats why i was confused a bit, but i won't be able to put it all back together and test it yet, my skid is still out of the sled waiting for the shocks to get rebuilt. i might reassemble it and see how it compresses and releases with my spring compressor

Probably best to wait. Although, as long as the track is out, then who cares if it spins the driveshaft freely. I assume the skid is out, so the track is still in, which would not work. Maybe it means removing the track which is less than fun, but if that is already in your list of things to do, then it can be sooner than later. If you do, try to avoid revving it too high for too long. I have done it, but I do not pretend it is a good idea either. In these cases, playing it smart is the only play we have.
