It desperately needs a 4 stroke motor. It's currently got a 1000cc two stroke triple, which seems poorly suited to the design. With a good 4 stroke motor it would be a real tractor.

Wonder for steering if they use Hydrostatic Motors like on a skid steer or a tracked trail groomer????

Looks like a more modern version of a 70s sled, the Diablo Rouge, also known as the "garden tractor gone wild". Look it up, cool sled ahead of its' time.

Apparently, it uses steerable tracks.

900 ace is the perfect engine for this.

Perfect on level ground, but it must be spooky when you get on any kind of sidehill situation.

Great to see something outside the norm, and I love the sound of a triple, but yeah a four-stroke would be the answer in this setup.

It lists its top speed at 100 kmh......  That would be fun...to watch from a distance.

Seriously though, with a torquey little 4 stroke like a 600 ACE in it, is there anything that thing couldn't do?  Needs some refinement, but man, that would put a SWT out of business.

I would put winches on both ends.

Would work for me when logging.

I really like these - To further explain, the tracks are flexible, and bend sideways to steer, so the whole front of the track goes left or right, creating an arc. I do not think they use differing track speeds to steer, only the track "bending" sideways. The tracks are made of several sections that interlock, and they are shaped like an accordion, so they can bend. They have made these since the 80s, there are many around with rotax 503s. I think it's an interesting design, on a tracked machine with brake steering (J5 etc) you lose a lot of power when you brake one track, or a hydro machine (Pisten bully, later Bombi etc etc) you need mega HP to make those pumps work, and they need to warm up a long time before you can move. With this, you have zero power loss. They don't look like much fun to ride though...

Thanks Doc...Good info...Can you elaborate on the ones they made in the 80s ?? Was it from the same company ?

I thought this was a new concept with the steerable track.

I'm no expert, looks like they were always Finncat. This is a 1982, 503cc Rotax. If you look closely you can see the strange track design.

Here is another shot I found with the steerable track function evident...
