I currently have a 2008 mxz adrenaline 800r ptek. The motor is blown. I can get a good deal on a new used engine from a 2010 mxz. Will this motor work in my sled? I believe the 2008s and 2010s had different cranks... If this motor is not a direct fit, does anyone know what would need to be done to make this engine work? Maybe they are the same but I seem to recall reading somewhere that the cranks are different and something with the stator is different.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to buy the engine only to find out it won't work. If it will work then it will save me a ton of money compared to buying a brand new engine.

I believe the 800R or PTEK engines interchange 2008 to 2010.  The 2010 800 ETEC engine has a longer crank on the mag side for the higher output magneto for the ETEC system.

It should be a bolt in.  And yes, I know the 2008 and 2010 have different crank part numbers but it should not affect interchangeability.  The 2008 has a balancer hung on the flywheel and a shorter starter cup, while the 2010 has no balancer and a longer starter cup to mate to the recoil.  They are essentially the same. Same wire connectors.

Awesome so electronic wise, everything should plug right in and my ecm should have no issues with the new engine?

2007 and 2008 800R ptec have the mag key way at 2:00 o'clock.

2009 and up have the mag key way at 12:00 o'clock. I don't think the swap will work. Your 08 flywheel on the 10 engine...timing will be way off.

I would stick to a 07 or 08 engine for your build. Sorry.

It will work if he does the complete engine swap as mentioned.

Stick the 2010 800r ptek long block in the 2008 chassis. No probs. Just can't interchange the parts as you mentioned.

I would be dropping the whole 2010 engine into the 2008 chassis. I would be using the 08 carbs, clutch, wiring, ecm, voltage reg, etc. Everything else would be from the 2010.

The 2010 engine is complete minus the carbs, exhaust manifold, and rewind. Flywheel and stator are still there.

The 2010 engine is $750 dollars and 4k miles on it. 149psi in both cylinders.

If I don't buy that or it sells before I decide then I am looking at a new engine from skidoo for $1800.

Either way I want to get this sled running again for next year. After the engine blew I finished the season on my Apex. The 4 stroke isn't bad but it's just not as much fun.

Buy it and drop it in. Good to go. Been there and done that. Good price to.
