Here is the latest press release from the Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs https://fcmq.qc.ca/e...resse-release1/

This is real problem, and worse this year than ever in Ontario as well. Someone even drove through the local cemetery here. One of my neighbours had someone come in off his neighbours pond and drive through his plantation and over small trees. I don’t have all the answers, but please do what you can to increase awareness. Please keep this sensible so it doesn’t get locked. To just say it’s just individuals stupidity and not anyone else’s responsibility doesn’t help much. Surely more of us can do something positive. This is so widespread, some of us are or know guys doing this. Let them know what you think,

.

This really has become a big issue everywhere I believe. I know it is an issue here in MN as well. Ya get 2" powder and these kids are out there ripping it up!! We have to ride on the boulevard to get to the trails near out house. We have a National Guard Armory across the street from us and the last time I went out some yahoo ripped the "edit for bad language" out of the grass under the snow in multiple spots on the Armory's property. I was "edit for bad language" beyond belief.

My club's leadership is getting tired of the land owner begging and constant re-routes because a few self centered individuals just can't stay ON THE TRAIL.

Why don't these guys pool their money and buy some meadow that they can tear up to their hearts content???

Agreed it’s a problem everywhere. It’s people today. Just don’t respect other people’s property.

I get people skiing through my property, neighbors had kids sled off of their roof. And snowmobile riders on private property leaving human waste, garbage etc. it’s sad really.

At my place of employment, I have to watch a half-dozen videos on workplace harassment, bullying, etc.  We all have to pass a quiz to get credit for watching the video.  This is a condition of employment.

I have said this for years, and even suggested it to the New York State Snowmobile Assoc. Trails Coordinator, who said it was a good idea.  We need to have videos and quizzes as a condition for registering your sled.  Maybe not every year, but short videos about private property, trails, trail maintenance, cans, etc., etc. That way, at least can get most people exposed to the issues pertaining to snowmobiling and maintaining these trails we love.

I already proposed the Big 4 OEM’s to start a marketing campaign for staying on trail or riding in approved areas only. So far, nobody has contacted me. My proposal was here on DOOTalk. I figured if BRP was lurking around on the forums, they would have hired me on the spot. No such luck. Lol

If any of you guys are familiar with the Mass City, Ml area, take a ride to Rousseau and look at the tracks in the farm fields between the two towns...IT'S DISCUSTING!!! If not for the blazers, you'd have no idea where the trail is there are so many tracks off the marked trail.

Last year we passed 3 guys watching their 3 buddy's tear around a field there. I was so mad l stopped and read these guys the riot act about trespassing which included a few names for the 3 trespassers that l can't mention here.

If l was that land owner l'd have the trail shut down immediately. I love snowmobiling more than anything but when l hear of a landowners denying access to their property because of trespassing or littering, l'm behind them 100%.

This would be a great place for law enforcement agents to make some much needed income for the state. Once word got out they were busting people for trespassing maybe people would stay between the trail blazers.

GOSH THIS MAKES ME MAD!!!!!

One more time...

Confiscate the sled, $10k fine - it has to hurt and hurt bad.

My guess is by the time the 3rd guy paid the fine the word would be out.

The XP was the most fun sled ever made - but I liked my XR more. The 850 takes it to a whole different level. But darn, the 900T is Bad to The Bone!

No Need to Freeze-buy a set of these! http://www.coldguards.com/

I understand everyone's point and I agree there needs to be a greater level of culpability for these kinds of behaviors. At the same time, the sport is in desperate need of a infusion of interest. It can be a fine line. More training as a requirement for riding seems like a good step. Manufacturers pushing "off trail" sleds isn't necessarily helpful either. A "trail friendly" beginner sled isn't widely available. Marketing of the new stuff favors those who want to play in the powder. This is not to say the guilty shouldn't be held accountable, just that answers aren't always that easy.

Been beating this drum for alot of yrs now. However most guys want to still blame a trail can for trail closures. When in reality the number one reason has been for a pretty long time, trespassing.
About time people start to wake up and talk about it on here. Good job skidog, more people need to educate the uneducated.

I had someone go off the trail today, and ran over one of my trees. Definitely ticks me off but I won't close the trail. I know that thousands go through there and just stay on the trail.

The "Can" bangers are still the blame but the trespassers pushes the landowners over when they have damage done or a farmer looses money ;)

Everyone that can help should be doing so because it is hurting the whole hobby and giving it a bad name. This is nothing new, and has always been an issue however it is worse now and getting to the point of losing major trails.

While I agree that the end user is responsible, and the manufacturers can’t be held responsible for what someone does with their product, there is no reason that they can’t play a part in promoting responsible riding. Someone on the vintage forum posted a hand out from the early 70s, on it were ways to ride responsibly, including not trespassing and safe water crossing, if they could do it then, why not now? Are they afraid it will open them up to liability?

This is not just a snowmobile club issue, people are simply trespassing wherever they like here, and it really has nothing to do with the club. All I can say is some people have a lot of nerve.  Admit it or not, the off trail sled scene has worsened the problem. What are they for?  Rip around, spin huge ruts everywhere, spend an hour going back and forth trying to do wheelies. Its a totally different animal, and its the cool thing to have.
