Just picked up a 2011 XP 550F for my grandson.. Rode 90 miles and low gas light came on and gauge showed empty. It runs great. Can anything be done to improve gas mileage ?

The fuel gauge on these sleds are notoriously inaccurate. The low fuel light could be on with 1/3 or more fuel left in the e tank. How much fuel did it take to fill the tank back up after the 90 miles is what needs to be known.

The 550f is terrible on gas and oil. It’s just the nature of the beast.

It took 9 gallons to fill it.

I should've checked before I bought I guess. I wonder why a smaller low rpm and lower hp motor is so hard on gas ?

Carbed motor isn't going to run as efficiently as fuel injection. 10mpg seems about normal for that engine.

I bought a 550f for my son when he was 11. It got 8-12 mpg. Less when it was warm out. More when it was cold. He had to hold it wide open all the time just to keep up. Sold the 550 and got him a 900ace. Should have just bought the 900 to begin with.

Not to mention a fan cooled engine has to run rich to keep from burning up.🥵

I picked up an 11 TNT 550F this year and am finding fuel mileage is about 10 mpg.
