I think we are all smart enough to understand how these cushy high paid appointments are done.Dr Jim Chirico is the public health unit officer who ordered the closure and he is not an elected official.
You scratch my back I'll scratch yours.
Elections have everything to do how these appointments are made.
Continue to pressure your local mpp, mp, councilors and mayor.
It does matter and it does help.

The public outcry was far greater when he closed toboggan hills and skating rinks and he didn’t waiver from his position on that. A few grumpy sledders won’t be able to do much to persuade, sadly.
Sad a true

That includes the Kearney area and the Seguin Trail, south river, Sundridge, NB, Bonfield etc. It’s a huge area that’s usually very popular with out-of-town visitors. OPP is out in force and stationed in key areas to catch violators.
It’s so frustrating.

I'm not going to risk it. $880 if I get caught is a ton of money to me
I did hear some other Southern Crew talking about going up anyway. They seem convinced the tickets are just stories and nobody has actually seen a screen shot of one yet posted on-line.
I told them I'm risk adverse enough not to need to see one with my own eyes.
As the saying goes "It is what it is" But it still sucks.

So to them I say, gee thanks. Go elsewhere or I hope you get fined.

Well those people you are referring to are the reason our trails are closed.
So to them I say, gee thanks. Go elsewhere or I hope you get fined.
You'd think that some people have nothing else to do in their life except snowmobiling. It's like a personal crisis that they are mentally unable to handle. Fer cryin' out loud people ... get another hobby for a while.

Sorry I disagree, they have done very well at pitting people against people. Notice how every closure is blamed on us, and by us I mean everyone.
Your crazy Dr says there's a stay at home order, so in the spirit of that he's closing your trails. Of course he adds in the frivolous citizen complaints to bolster his position.
No numbers or actual facts to back up his order though.
With or without people up there he would have closed your trails.
What about your tobogganing hills, skating rinks? Was that due to out of towner's? Nope. Its the thing now, close everything and anything in the name of health, who can argue against it. You are ignored, cancelled and labelled a whiner or conspiracy theorist.
Mattawa yelled and screamed until they got what they wanted. Now even they will suffer, both financially and loss of outdoor activities.
No different when last spring some communities lobbied the health units to ban people from their cottages, and they actually succeeded!
Until some council's looked for ways to fire the medical officer of health.
Every level of government has completely failed the citizens yet we argue and blame each other for everything instead of blaming them.

It’s not that easy for some of us. I am fortunate through all this that I have been able to work through this mess since it started. I drive from my “region” an hour and a half to go to work. But I can’t go ten minutes outside of it to ride. It’s a double standard. I work all year for my two months of sledding. It is my hobby, along with the amount of money tied up in it. It’s my only escape. So shy of all trails being closed, ( I have never and never will ride a closed trail), I will be continuing to load the trailer every weekend to find snow. There’s nothing legally stopping me.
