Hey guys I have a 2012 skidoo etec 800 that started out 100 percent un modified then it blew up and I've installed a ptec cylinder in its place drilled oil ports for rave valves and have no problems with it except when I come off the throttle on wide open pulls it slightly backfires on its downrev and keeps eating reedvalves. I've been through 2 sets of reeds in the last 300 miles! Can anyone point me in the right direction? Like sticky raves causing this? I also have a tuned pipe sensor code so would that cause it? Thinking of just bypassing sensor to see but want some real thoughts from some skud gurus! Thanks in advance for the help!

Are you using SPI reeds or some kind of Chinese reeds? I can blow them out of our sleds in 300 km. BRP reeds is the only ones I can get life out of. The 2013 style reeds.

Sorry The Boyesen only lasted 600 km and the tips of the white vinyl reed burnt back. Was able to get warranty on them and same thing happened to the second set.

I tend to ride high in the RPM range and destroy reed regularly. My wife rides at 6000-6500 rpm all day and has never destroyed a set of reeds.  :o

The old rotary-valve sleds never had these issues.

They have been good in the old Ptec. I have heard good things about the V force but have never run them in an Etec.

Dry E-TEC is tough on everything

E-TEC reeds and oil

Check oil consumption

I didn't get even 700 miles out of my Boyeson's.  2013 stockers were still good after 2500 miles, tried Boyesons, and now back to the same stockers at 4900 miles.. so 4200 miles on stockers with no issues.
