quick brake job turned into nightmare

hey dootalk i wanted to change my brake pads this morning but i did not see the small metal clip behind the retaining bolt. i tried to remove the bolt holding the pads and its now stripped and i cant remove it. i dont really know what do do now...any help is apreciated.

Grind a groove into it and use a screwdriver

the head is not stripped i can turn it fine , its just not coming out because the threads on the bolt itself are gone

You need to screw the bolt in a bit and grind / deburr right at the clip groove area. It won’t slide through the bore. You may be able to tap and install a heli coil and install a new slider bolt.
Replace the clip as well. You are not the first one

valon was right on the money. the bore where the clip is is too wide to go through so i had to use a file to remove it but i worked . thanks i was scared i had to remove the caliper and drill trough. thanks a lot

I'm not going to lie... I've had the same thing happen. I used red thread lock and put the pin back in. Then I put on the little hitch pin clip and never had an issue.
