It's just as easy to carry a couple spare relays/fuses.    That's minimal storage on my sled in a ziplock bag for added peace of mind if I ever go out riding alone.

All 4 strokes should be mechanical reverse.

All 4 strokes should be manually actuated reverse.

FIFY. My relays have froze up a few times. Annoying. I would much rather have a manual lever.

E reverse uses the same stuff as M reverse

with just a few extra electric parts

that can be removed

My 2020 Grand Touring has done this, now displaying "RER Failure" on the dash when fired up.  I took it to the dealer, and they found that the reverse switch, I assume located somewhere on the chaincase, was missing some of the retaining clips, therefore moving with the reverse linkage but not tripping the switch.  Clips ordered, will be ready shortly.

If its an electrical system then its not manual/mechanical.

It is an electromechanical reverse system.

There is linkage that moved a coupler to engage the reverse gear. That is the mechanical part and this is the same system used on the lower-end 4-strokes except the linkage is moved by a manual lever. On the higher end 4-strokes there is a motor that moves the linkage to engage reverse gear when you press a button.... that the 'electro" part,

Unlike the 2-strokes where the engine actually runs backwards to provide reverse when you press the button.

Its a poorly designed unreliable system.  My 2016 900 Enduro has had RER failure issues since day one.  Multiple times to dealer, high quality Bosch relays, new shifting motor installed, etc etc.  It still periodically fails.  Like last night when I unloaded from trailer for first time of year.  Tapped on motor, relays etc and no joy.  I suspect  relay since I don't even get the clunk from the shifter trying.  Fortunately last summer I ordered all the parts to convert to manual shift lever for reverse.  That is the only long term permanent cure. The electronic shifting was BRP's cure for a problem that didn't exist.  If you can squeeze the brake lever you can pull the manual shift lever.

Loosen the belt slightly until it wears in a bit. In my sled it also happened at the beginning of the year  when there is some oxidization on the primary sheves.

A little te but we’re you able to get this fixed? I just purchased a 2022 expedition, it’s got 25 miles on it. While pulling it out of the trailer I shut it off half way down the ramp and when I returned no reverse. I don’t think it is electrical because it make a grinding type sound and the linkage looks as if it is trying to move. I tried adjusting the belt with no luck,

its just another over priced unneeded option designed to make more profit for brp

when you dont have engine failures the dealers need something to make a extra buck fixing
