I have spent more time than I would like to admit searching forums and other outlets trying to figure out my problem.
I have a 2011 Summit X 800 Etec. It is very hard starting ( requires throttle input ) and it doesn't exactly "bog", it feels like it totally cuts power throughout the rpm range. It tends to do better when warmed up... but the first 20 min of trail riding is BAD!
Once warmed up I can sort of work around the cutting out issue, just have to be careful where I put the sled. However, fully warmed up, if I shut the sled off for more than 10 min and it begins to cool down... it might take 6-10 pulls with throttle input to restart.
I have changed the fuel pump, changed inline fuel filters, new plugs ( clocked correctly ), all new gas in the tank, just checked reeds this weekend as well as the Rave valves. Engine was rebuilt a couple seasons ago by previous owner... compression seems really good.
I did get a code at the end of last season for exhaust temp something or other... but I can't get it to come back up.
This was a cheap sled with some miles on it... so my dilemma is if I drop it at a shop and it takes $1000 to fix it, I might as well have dumped it and started over.
Any suggestions I can try at home? Thanks!
