I am sure AMSOIL is a high quality product, and the warranty in theory is great.   However, like most things the devil is in the details.   IE. getting someone to pay your warranty claim should something happen.  Better have all your receipts for every gallon of AMSOIL you ever bought, and god forbid you ran out on the trail one time and had to put XPS full synthetic in.

I don't mean to be a downer, and I know AMSOIL makes a good product, but good luck getting them to pay your claim.   I just leave this here from Tommy Boy.....

Ted Nelson, Customer : But why do they put a guarantee on the box?

Tommy : Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of *%$!%. ... But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

Their warranty -

Run With Us

We’re so confident in AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil that we’ll back you with our Runs on Freedom Limited Snowmobile Warranty.

Use AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil exclusively in your current-model-year or newer sled and we'll cover engine repairs to qualified parts in the unlikely event of a problem for up to 2 years/5,000 miles/8.000 km, whichever comes first.

Two years or 5,000 miles doesn't mean a lot to me. I had (4) recent Doo's that I put over 5,000 miles on with zero issues, not even a loose bolt to bring in under warranty or a loose handguard. If you want me to use a product you have to give me something of substance. I'm pretty sure if I had a new Honda Civic and ran it on recycled 10w30 it would go over 5,000 miles before I had a warranty issue.

The 2 yr/5,000 mile guarantee would guarantee I wouldn't try their product. It sounds like they don't believe in their product.

Good luck with that. Think for a second what little meaning 2 years or 5,000mi has in the snowmobile world.

I used to use amsoil and dont have anything negative to say about it, but I helped my friend Scott, known as Dootint on here, do a top end in his 03 600 which had 5000 miles on the new motor he put in. He only ran xps and the pistons looked beautiful. From that point on I was a believer in xps and have run it ever since especially since you can get it for great prices in the beginning of the season. RIP brother, really miss that guy

DOO_TINT was awesome!

RIP brother!

The guy was and remains brilliant!

He is the one who posted the difference in Configuration Harness between the Electric and Pull start configuration.

His last post on DooTalk was here.

Exactly.

2 years or 5,000 miles is a joke.

The XP was the most fun sled ever made - but I liked my XR more. The 850 takes it to a whole different level.

I find most warranties and insurance policies are great to make you feel that you are protected. That’s until you need to use it and so often you find there is some loop hole or something “off” that denies your claim.

This Amsoil warranty could be great, until they determine your engine failure was not actually due to a failure of the oil. I know apparently manufacturers cannot deny an engine claim if you were using another approved oil, but I think I like my chances of running XPS in a brand new sled, and having no potential for them to blame the oil.

Funny how this is such an issue with sleds, but cars and trucks nobody thinks twice about using any recognized brand or whatever the garage puts in,

If you change from Walmart oil to Amsoil you don't have to worry about getting over 14,000 miles on the engine because Amsoil will guarantee you won't be on more than your 3rd engine at 5,000 miles each! LOL

Have used both Doo oil and Amsoil for many years in many Doo sleds, both are great oils and have had ZERO problems with either. There are other oil brands that have been used extensively by other riders, and they too have not caused any problems. Bottomline, use what you want for oil and enjoy your ride!
