I've seen the FC and top fuel cars in person. I can back 1Evil55's claim. When they light the candles you can feel the power pass through your body. We had a family friend that use to run promod back in the late 90's through early 00's those car are further down the food chain but still are/were very fast. Now that I'm older and somewhat wiser I don't know how he was able to afford to run his promod car. Stupid money on just trying to make one pass down the track.

I grew up in a drag race family.  A couple are still doing it.  It is almost sickening how many people that are doing it are doing it with an empty tank.  Their love for the sport overrides other bills.  Screw the mortgage, we're going racing seems to be the mindset of too many.

In order to exceed 300 MPH in 4.5 seconds, dragsters must accelerate an average of over 4 G's. In order to reach 200 MPH well before half-track, the launch acceleration approaches 8 G's. * Top Fuel engines turn approximately 540 revolutions from light to light.

I used to go watch NHRA drag racing all the time in the 80's back when we had the GrandNational held at the Sanair race track just east of Montreal.

Those were the only NHRA events we ever had in Canada. Not sure why it has stopped and is no more.

In any case, those were the best racing events i ever went to by far... i could go on and on why.

I have been to all kinds of other racing including F1 and Nascar and i always liked NHRA way more.

We're all different but i really have a hard time to understand why it is not more popular.

^^^^ yeah I’ve been to all types of racing as well and NHRA is the best simply because of the access to all areas. Nothing like being in the pits when they “warm up” the fuel cars, I’m not sure they still seat the clutches like the did 20 years ago when the whole crew would hold the car down when they whacked the throttle. It was like getting drop kicked with the concussion!
SUMMER SUCKS!!

Just your luck, NHRA is still in Canada. After Senair closed, everyone seems to have forgotten about Napierville, Quebec. It won't be much further for you. Take the 30 East and head South on the 15.

I highlighted 2020 because it is happening in a week!

Masks are mandatory for public gatherings in Quebec as of tomorrow.

I drive by last week and could see the pits and hear the drifting from the road.

That`s good but i do not see Top Fuel / Funny Cars on the list :(... Why is that ??

Burning nitro-methane not allowed in Canada or something ??...That's why the Sanair Grand-National is no more maybe ??

Those are main attractions and no rules against them that I know of. It is a special year and the borders are not officially open, so who knows.

I looked at the Northeast division that Napierville falls under. So far they are the only ones in the division. Anyone know how this works?

Thx. They are part of the PCRICHARD.COM NorthEast Division. Any idea why there is only one race in this division?

John “Cuddles” Charrest and his provincial government at the time barred nitro methane and any leaded fuel from being burned at any motor sports event in the mid “80’s, iirc. The NHRA said fine, we’ll hold that event in the US then at a track that wanted the event. Business in the Montreal area freaked over the loss of millions dollars of what the event brought, Cuddles backtracked and told the NHRA they could have an exception but it was to late, no fuel cars since then. Clowns.
